All depends.. If I can squeeze in another car payment I would do 4 cyclinder and we would have a 4,6, and 8.. If not, we will trade in the LT for a SS and have two V8's

I personally am getting a V8 but if I were choosing between a 4 and 6cyl and had mods planned I would have no problem getting a 4cyl. The 4cyl with just a tune is going to be hurting a lot of 6cyl feelings. Tune only results for that engine are in the neighborhood of 35RWHP and 70RWTQ. I say if you plan on mods and not getting a SS get the 4cyl and you will be happy you did.

I'm considering the T4. But I want to see what else is going to be offered. Fingers crossed for a twin turbo awd V6.

275 horsepower and 295 lbft is adequate for a economical driver that weighs in the 3400lb range. Never saw a turbo car that can't be improved with boost if need be.
Have a different car which approaches the high 800 hp range N/A for play time. |

I never understood the idea of buying a smaller underpowered motor only to say I can mod it to make it faster. Why not just buy the biggest one offered? Anything you do to a four can be done to an eight. The only purpose I see for four is fuel economy. If I had to really worry about that, that means my funds are tight. So I probably wouldn't be buying a new car anyhow but a fuel efficient used car. I don't know. I guess I don't get it.

Nothing can match the all American muscle car sound of a turbo 4....V-8 or bust!
And for gas mileage, forget it as one will have their foot in the turbo most of the time... |

there's a number everyone needs to remember: 54.6 That's as in 54.6 MPG as a corporate average fuel economy standard for 2024. That includes SUVs like Tahoes and Suburbans in that average.
There is a need and a want for 4 cylinder turbo engines. NO - not everyone wants one - but there IS a market out there for such a powertrain - and frankly, the market will grow as we head toward 2024. That's the law of the land and if you don't like it, let your elected officials know. Interesting tidbit- we have some younger drivers of V6 Camaros that are 'criticized' by friends because they're driving a V6 - and it's not because it's not a V8! It's because it's not a 4 cylinder. We must remember that there are many buyers with various wants and needs...and we need to provide that to the buyer.

I think the 4cyl/8A combo will be very interesting considering it would be about half the price of a 428i with a similar drivetrain. It seems Chevy has figured out a way for the Camaro to be compete against more than just other pony/muscle cars.
