They are not lying. That would be stupid. However, at no point have they ever said the 6th Gen SS is 200lbs lighter than the 5th Gen SS. Nowhere. If it turns out that is, indeed, the case, then kudos to GM.

Focusing on making the vehicle 200 pounds or more lighter was one of the pillars for the designers of the 2016 Camaro. It will at least be in the ballpark of 200 pounds lighter.

No doubt, at least one model of the Alpha Camaro models WILL be 200lbs lighter than one of the 5thGen Camaro models. They have already said that. But that doesn't mean EVERY model lost 200lbs between the 5thGen and the 6thGen. Why is that so hard to comprehend or accept?

Assuming they deliver on the 200lbs weight reduction and equipped with the 8 speed auto.
0-60: 4.0 1/4 mile: 12.4-12.6 |

Thr manual should trap about 3-4 mph and .3-.4 quicker more vs a ls3 .
The auto should have about same trap speed as manual but quicker by .2-.3 second. So lets used a baseline of 12.9@110 mph magazine time for the 5th gen . Manual would run a 12.6@114 and the auto 12.4@113 is my guess.

Depends on the weight and final gear ratio. The autos could have a 2.73 rear and very soft shifting settings to preserve the transmission with more moving parts.

That gives us the roughly 200lbs drop per model, and it improves fuel economy.

I would guess 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, and 12.6 for the 1/4 mile.

Agree aren't the gen6 wheels 18"? That could be a good reduction right there.

The C7 A8 has been 11.60s @ 118mph so add 300lbs to the vettes 3350lbs I'd say around 12.20 @ 115mph

The Vette has a lower drag coefficient, better aero, it's lighter, and most importantly, it's got tires the size of Texas on the back for grip...
