Yes. McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc. and it's around $15,000 give or take a few thousand depending on what exactly is required to make the color. Lamborghini has a matte grey called Grigio Titans that costs $16,000. Custom colors can get ridiculous price wise.

Colors like Laguna Blue, Garnet Red and Bright Yellow are multiple stage or tintcoat paints. That is the only reason they cost more and the cost is more associated with the set up and switch over process on the paint line at the factory. Hyper/Vector Blue is a normal 2 stage base/clear paint.

I think Cadillac is charging $495 for Vector Blue because it is only available on the V-series cars so that requires a set up change on the line. The 2 multistage colors Crystal White and Red Obsession are $1000. They charge $495 for Phantom Grey V-series as well, but no clue why as its a free color on the normal ATS's.

When you nail the proper shade of blue, its a popular color. Your going to have to get over that one. Colors like Quazar Blue and Bright Blue metallic used to be popular colors for the 3rd gens and early LT1 era 4th gens.

I hope it is a popular color, I'd like for it to stick around longer than 6 months this time

Like anything else on the planet since cavemen started trading the price is whatever the market will bear. The hyper was popular enough they figured they could get a little extra ching for it, whether that thought holds merit will be decided by buyers. Since colors are one of the things buyers can be notoriously hung up on my guess is the bean counters may very well earn their pay on this one, we'll see.

I was more than happy to pay the $400 for my GRM. It's beautiful.

Why did someone necro-bump a thread from almost a year ago discussing paint colors and costs when at the time of the thread and the majority of the replies no one knew what colors would cost extra if any?

I understand that Hyper-Blue is being made a premium color for 2017, but that has nothing to do with this thread that should be anchored.

They probably would have sold less at a higher price.

Why you would want to spend more on a car is beyond me.
