I knew that I needed to stay away from the forums... lol!

I read this thread last night and then went out to see what was actually available on the Chevy site. Well I didn't see what Fran was looking for... but I did see one that caught my eye.

1K deposit later and I am on my way across the state to pick it up tomorrow! I got a VERY fair deal and the car was actually what I would have picked last time... if any were available back then!

I can't believe the lack of M6s in general. All of mine have been automatics, but I as thinking "surely there are some manuals left to be had". There are 0 vert 8s within a 250mi radius of me! Not even a one in transit...

There are 21 V8-powered convertibles with a M6 in the entire country. LT1 (1), 1SS (7), 2SS (7), and ZL1 (0). Only way anyone is getting "the one they want" is ordering a 2023...

A10 is where it’s at. I wouldn’t order a M6.

When it comes to cars, I've ordered like 4 out of my last 5, because that is typically the only way to get what you want. It's hard for me to live with the car when it's not everything I wanted. No dealer is going to order a manual transmission, because it won't sell. They want inventory they can move. They also want to sell with the packages that they think are the most popular and turn a good profit.

The SS/ZL1 is one of the last great manual transmission cars. It'd be a shame to miss this, as it won't be around much longer...

My car was ordered for dealer inventory and it's a manual. When I bought mine, there were at least a half dozen cars in dealer inventory within a one hour drive that were manuals.

While I agree that many vehicles that are available with a manual but appear more to the 'family demographic' are not ordered for inventory with a manual, that doesn't translate over to these kinds of cars. The low inventory right now is due in part to it being "what's left" of the 2022 model year, the fact that I only looked for convertibles, and most of the manuals having already been sold.

I wouldn't agree, I'd say you encountered a unicorn situation. Even non-family cars, sports cars, a manual transmission is a rarity and almost never ordered by a dealer to sit on a lot. It just doesn't happen anymore.

It's less that it doesn't happen and more that it can't happen. Dealers can't get allocations for SOLD Camaro's, let alone ones for inventory.

The reason I had the dual NPP exhaust and magnetic ride suspension options put on when my Camaro was made was because (from what I read) that adding either of them at a later date was an expensive task. It was much cheaper to have them added at the creation of the car instead of trying to add them later.
