Spring car detail.

First off let me say thank you to Seth from SSTG/nightshades for graciously taking his time to let me talk his ears off.

So this weekend started out with me putting in my new afterburner taillights. I'll post a pic of one of the tailights at the bottom(sorry I've neglected to get a pic of all four installed).

But then came the detail...

First i did a strip wash with dawn dish soap.
Then clayed the areas that needed it(only behind all four tires)
Then began the LONG journey of polishing to perfection. This took a total of 12 hours polishing.
I used a new porter cable 7424xp from Todd at autopia. Thanks for the hook up btw Todd.(I also used this on a clients car and it worked great.
I used a meguires microfiber cutting pad, lake city cutting and polishing pads with my new polishes.
Some menzerna fg400(this stuff is astonishingly good)
And menzerna sf4000(this didn't impress me as much. meguires 205 finishes just as good if not better and it's cheaper)
Then my car was sealed with blackfire wet diamond. And man is she glowing!!
The whole process took probably a total of 15 hours work time and the sealant was left on over night to cure.
Then she was given a bath with AMMO foam paint cleanser to finish.
I will have to post pictures one at a time since I am on my phone, So my apologies for that.

Hood after polishing...

I polished one section of the hood with my new lake city cutting pad... And boy... You guys who are using foam pads to cut REALLY need to step it up and get some microfiber pads for cutting. It took me three passes to cut to perfection where as the microfiber cutting pads took one pass.

What system are you using for polishing and what polisher? I know the lake county pads but which ones? Also, what compound and finish are you using.

Great job my friend! That hood shot really shows the depth in your paint thanks to your polishing skills.
Well done!

Sorry bud, all of that was in the original post. Porter cable 7424xp, menzerna fg400 for compound and sf4000 for polish.

I Only used the lake city cutting pad for one section of the hood. It wasn't cutting it at all(no pun intended lol).I used the meguires microfiber cutting pad for the remainder of the areas that needed compounding.

And I do use foam pads for polishing, so I did use my new lake city white polishing pad.

Edit: my lake city cutting pad I was using was the orange one. I believe there is a more aggressive pad than that one.

And thanks for the complement! This black paint wasn't the easiest to make perfect but it was very worth it in the end!
