Here's what we'll all be driving by 2015.

I doubt that the Camaro will lose the V8. There is too much demand for them.

I don't think you'll see the V-8 go away because of fuel economy. My 2010 get's 24mpg on the highway right now. I figure every year they will get better and better, and still produce a ton of HP. As technology gets better, so will the HP and Fuel Economy numbers. I just wish I could squeeze a few more MPG's out of my truck- that thing is a gas pig!

I don't think we really have to worry about there not being a V8 offered. I stated in another thread that I hoped they would continue to offer V8s for a very long time even if they are smaller than the current generation. If they do use the 5.5L V8 from the next generation corvette, then that's good for everybody. Better mileage and you'll still get that V8 sound. They have 0.6L 4 cyl engines, so theoretically you could have a 1.2L V8. But I'll be honest with you, it won't sound anything like the current V8s! But I am willing to bet that even if they have to start making 3L V8 engines for emissions purposes, there will still be demand for them because it's a "V8" The legendary 454ci engine was 7.4L You can't buy that in a car today, but I don't really see people complaining because the modern 6.2L or even Fords 5.0L can pump out as much HP and torque with the proper modifications. Maybe in 20 years they can pump out similar numbers out of a naturally aspirated 3L. Who knows...

It will have a v8, just not a 6.2... If I'm correct I read in motortrend this week that the new platform will feature a smaller v8 like the 2013 c7 vette is getting

Shark attack!

wont happen The government can put emission limits sure but as long as there is a large consumer interest and it creates profit with in the market large companies as well as people will fight against it. In the US if they limit what we drive their will be plain and simply be an uprising, just like if you take our guns.

if I’m not mistaken then that ford engine is in the new EcoBoost trucks, and if that's the case, it's so new that they don't know how it's gonna hold up in the real world. I know they did the "Baja" test on it, but that was all carefully watched over and maintained as it went. I'm not familiar with the GM turbo charged 2.0. I do know from experience however that the twin turbos on the BMW's are amazing as far as power and torque go, but have TONS of problems..from rattle to failure of HPFP and a few things in between...took mine in 5 times before i decided to drop it. Now i could be completely off with the whole turbo thing, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and i personally will stick with NA engines |
