To MRC or not to MRC.?

So I'm going to start looking for a used '16. The only option I'm on the fence about is MRC. Having never driven a 16 yet, am I going to regret it later if I don't have it? Any opinions? Do you guys that have MRC love it? Will I notice a huge difference if I don't have it?

Yes I really love it. One of the things I am super happy I added. To me the ride smoothness is obvious but some have said they don't notice it.

Just my opinion in this video

I have driven a SS with and without MRC. For me, I could tell the difference. Even in track mode, the SS with MRC rode better and was more composed. Not to say there is a performance benefit, but there is a daily driving benefit. The non-MRC ride wasn't bad at all. If I didn't experience a MRC equipped SS, I would be none the wiser and say a non-MRC SS rides very well. But going over the same bumps in the MRC SS, it would smooth out bumps better and regain composure quicker after hitting them.

For me, it is worth the money when it comes time to order the car in 2-3 months time. Only way to tell if it is worth it for you is to test drive both and see.

I test drove an SS with and without; I thought I could live without it until I bought/found one with it. I don't regret it.

I keep the car's suspension in tour mode and the ride is just as good as my Impala. No complaints.

Anyone ever been driving around in Tour mode which is pretty smooth and then switch to sport mode and feel the car get a little bouncey on bumps? Although I know sport carves way better in the curves.

I was so happy when I found mine and like a jackass assumed it had mrc. Got home and discovered it didn't. Totally my fault and my last car had it (ctsv wagon). Yes you do notice it and yes it's totally worth it. I'm not getting rid of the car any sooner bc of lack of mrc but it is noticeable.

Here in Michigan where our roads look like Baghdad we need MRC.... The only 3 things I need on my C6 is MRC, NPP, 6M....everything else will be gravy...

I wanted it, but didn't find the cars on the lot with all the combination of options & color options that we wanted. There was one 2SS with it, but wasn't a color combination that we wanted. I drove both, but decided on a car without it, but with other options & the color combination we wanted. I love how my car handles, even without MRC.

I would have liked to have it, but for me it was a nice to have not a must have option. Go drive some & decide if it is a must have, or a nice to have.

I have it on my CTS-V and I'd never have another car without it. An early clincher for me was driving on a residential street that had significant speed bumps on it every hundred yards or so... and having to wait while all the other cars in front of me had to slow down and crawl over the bumps, while I could take them without having to slow down (when nobody was in front of me!).

Best regards,

Elie

So the console selector to choose between tour and sport is not MRC?

I thought these are the same thing.

Every camaro I test drove had this

For non MRC cars - the selector adjusts steering effort, throttle response and exhaust mode (on dual mode exhaust equipped cars). A MRC equipped car does all of that and adds shock adjustment.

To the OP's question - I went non MRC and have no regrets. The ride is very good and the handling is excellent. I have no doubt that MRC would soften the ride on bad roads but I loose no sleep over not having it and saving the money instead. For what it is worth the Motor Trend drivers preferred the non MRC version for handling and track purposes.
