Carbon fiber maintenance

This may have been on here before and if so I apologize. Having said that, I was wondering if there is any specific maintenance you should do to carbon fiber parts such as the hood. If I understand correctly you should not wax these pieces.

More than likely your carbon fiber is clear coated. In that case, you can treat it exactly like the paint.

If you are talking about the CF that comes from the factory, that is clear coated. Therefore care for it just like you would the painted pieces. If it's aftermarket CF, check with whom you purchased for clear coat, if it's vinyl, etc.

Op there were two carbon fiber hood inserts available in 2012. One was exposed and was clear coated ( you can see the weave ) that can be washed waxed polished just like paint. The other was painted a mat finish and you can not see the weave. The later was rare and should Not be waxed or polished. Just soap and water and dry with a good microfiber.

If yours looks like this, wax and polish away.

Thanks. Mine looks like yours so I guess I'm safe to wax it like the rest of the car.
