Well where do I start? My father was always a "Car" guy. He was known as the family member with the "cool" cars. He mainly had Corvettes. As the first born his love for cars naturally rubbed off on me My first car for those who remember was a piece of ---- Vega. I was young , Dad could not convince me not to buy it, so I did. I had always loved Camaros and Corvettes. I seemed to be drawn more towards Camaros I think because they were cheaper than a Vette. I think it was the end of Junior year of high school or the beginning of Senior year a relative of mine had two Camaros behind a garage on his property. One was a 67 RS/SS 396 car. The other was a 69 RS convertible. The deal was if I paid for the restoration (they were both basket cases for those who know what that means). I said DEAL!!! I like all generations of the Camaro, but my all time favorite is the 1969 MY. I of course went with the 69 convertible. The 1967 was not offered It had no front sheetmetal, engine or trans. We spent the next 2 years restoring it. It was awesome!!! I had it for about 6 years. I have not looked back since. The Camaro is in my blood. I had a 1997 Z-28 convertible, Sold that last year. On January 2 2013 I took delivery of a ordered ZL-1 Convertible and it is friggen awesome. You may have noticed a little pattern here. Yes they are all convertibles. After you have driven a convertible muscle car it is hard to be convinced to buy a coupe. Also the 97 and the 13 are 6 speeds. I will always be a diehard Camaro fan. I look forward to see the 6th gen. Who knows what the future holds. Right now I am in Camaro Heaven

It started at an early age when I walked by a first gen with the hidden headlights , then at 18 I started to look at what new car I was going to buy .Looked at yes mustang , trans am and Camaro . At 19 I bought a corvette instead . I had courtesy Camaros pace cars etc .

Fast forward my brother asked me to check out a 70 RS Z28 for him and he bought it . He had it a couple of years when his wife was nagging him as the was not used as she thought it should be . I bought it from him . Then in 97 the 30th anniversary Camaro came out and I went to get a price and was going to order one but really did not need it as it would not be an everyday driver . Funny how somethings work out 4 yrs later ended up buying a 30th anniversary convertible .

When the 5th gen came out I looked at it like I always do with cars but did not need one . I sat in an early ZL1 convertible and thought this could work for me . Never seriously thought about one though . I seen a picture of the Hot Wheels edition when they announced it was going to be built . We were in Florida when I seen one at a dealer but my wife made sure I did not go anywhere near it . I never pushed the issue as again did not need it .

Two months later GM is having a big sale on every vehicle including corvettes , and just joking around with a dealer asked what they had in inventory . They just had 1 v6 in stock , they responded if you want us to find something you have to move on it as the sale was in its last days .
So I went home and in my spare time started to look at dealer stock , I found a couple ZL1 and some SS Camaros , even some corvettes but if I was going to get a corvette I was going to wait for the stingray . I am only looking and I found a Hot Wheels Special Edition that just arrived at a dealer , I called about it and bought it over the phone after about an hour . I added it to the garage and none are daily drivers .

long story short, was driving a focus with an insane interest rate to build credit, told the fiancé I wanted a truck or sports car, she said " we will talk about it" next day she went to work and I went to the dealership, made sure to get leather interior In case I didn't have a house to come back to that night, luckily when I got home she fell in love with it just like I did.

Bought my first car, '01 Camaro in 2008. Modded it, boy racer thing etc etc. It had the broken coolant elbow that never could get fixed right. Traded it in for the '14 I have now.

I got very lucky on a business trip to Florida. Alamo ran out of economy cars and I was upgraded to a black V6 convertible Camaro. I drove that car for a week and loved every minute of it. Back in 1978, I had owned a yellow 1976 Camaro LT. I had loved that car too, so getting in the Alamo V6 brought back a lot of memories. During the those past 35 years, I had raised a family... now it was time to get back into a car I loved. Camaro time!

I got home from Florida and went to the Chevy dealer. When I test drove the SS, I had a revelation. During that test drive, I realized that these cars would one day become classics. These are the good old days! So pick out a nice one, buy it and enjoy it. I hadn't experienced power like this since I was a teenager..and it was available brand new! They had a brand new red 2SS/RS with Recaro seats. I brought it home and I've been smiling ever since.

All great stories , I have read them all and I have to say I'm always impressed with the history and reasons why each of you have fallen in love with the 5thgen Camaro

I know the passion all of you have for this vehicle , & as I inspect each one after they've been built and are awaiting final shipping and the start of their journey , I always give each one a pat on the rear quarter , and know there will be future stories from happy new owners

Thanks for supporting GM and Team Camaro The Oshawa Build Team sends our deep appreciation Cheers

I'm a leaser, so maybe my story doesn't count much but...

I had a fully loaded 2010 Maxima (ya know, the car they claim is the 4 door sports car). It was a great car, but I was just bored with it and wanted out of the lease. Started calling around to dealerships and found a 2014 2SS RRM with the blacked out hood that was perfect, but we couldn't agree on price. I went to the Chevy dealership right down the street from me to see if they could hook me up, and they did. Took the hit on the Nissan lease (I think I was 8 months early), drove away in my 1SS, and couldn't be happier.

Also, I had just gotten my job at GM, so it was time to not drive a Japanese car anymore.

Sidebar: Getting out of a Nissan lease early when you aren't getting into another Nissan is an AWFUL HASSLE.

I had a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9 Cummins and was chugging along one day and the good ol' 48RE tranny decided to start slipping. I already had it pushing great numbers and didn't want to let it go, but when the price jumped from $5800 to $6900 shipped for a billet tranny it made me question it. The dealer offered $16,800 for the truck (it was paid off) so I went ahead and signed after talking the window down $3,600. It seemed more logical to upgrade to a vehicle 7 years newer and at only $300 a month. No regrets so far, but I do miss the truck a lot.

We saw the prototype Camaros at GM Carlisle back in 2007. I said at the time, the day that they could be ordered I would do so.
I went to my dealer that Spring day only to find out Summit White was on restraint... Bummer.
I had to wait a couple of months to order but finally got my SW/IO SS/RS delivered to me on 8/21/09.
Time flies. It will be 6 years old in a few months but I still get a thrill every time I take it out for a spin.

Thanks to you guys for building a fantastic car! I have never counted them all, but I would imagine I have owned over 30 vehicles in my lifetime. That list includes two Corvettes, a 1967 Mustang, a 1968 Chevelle, 1976 BB Jeep, Supra... I could go on and on. My favorite car is, by far, my current 2014 Camaro SS. You guys did a hell of a good job building them! You will go down as one of the best in automotive history.
