Is this illegal, or is she SOL?
I have a friend who bought a Camaro because she really liked mine. Now, she's not the brightest crayon in the box.. But I'm trying to help her out with something. She texted me a pic of a black on black zl1 that she was going to buy. she got it for $35k which I thought was cheap. Had 30k or so miles on it.. So after she bought it she came to show me and when she popped the hood there was a v6 engine under there!!
The ad (and she has it still) says it is a zl1.. It's badged as a zl1 but it's definitely NOT a zl1. Is there anything legally she can do about this? She's out $35k.. |

Not the brightest crayon in the box.....this made me laugh.
Where did she buy it? When she texted you a picture, you did not recognize that it wasn't a ZL1 (wheels, bumper, etc.) or was it after she already bought it? |

You should had helped instead of just trying to help. She doesn't sound like she should be making major purchases on her own.

That is illegal. Selling party is required to let them know of any changes to the vehicle. It is fraud selling that vehicle as a ZL1 when it not.

She texted me a pic of it before she bought it and it was only of the front. It had the wheels, the front end, the badges and the hood vent so I had no idea it was a fake.

How about contacting the state's attorney's office? If it was a dealership, take that story to the local news channel.

What year LT or LS did she actually get? I'm guessing $35K for any year LT or LS with 30,000 miles is a major ripoff.

Holy crap...That's kind of funny but not...Why would she not consult with you first before she bought it?
She got robbed... That is a tough one, but if it is a licensed dealer I would say yes as it is misrepresentation, as for a PP sale I am not sure as it may vary state to state. What year is it, and I assume it is a LT?

She told me it was a 2013 zl1. So $35k would have been good to me. But what she really got was either a 2010-2011 (inside wasn't updated like the 2012-2015) with the rs package.

Was the car financed? It seems that someone would have known something with the vin#.

Nope, her boyfriend was actually the one who bought it for her and he paid cash. They've called the person they bought it from. But haven't heard anything which I don't think they will.
