Wheels and Clearance

Hey Guys, I found that my rims are 20x9 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. And they are run on stock tire sizes. Ever since I bought this car, I have been dealing with shaking at the steering wheel, and I think I finally pinpointed the problem. My question is now, will 275/40/20 fit in the front and 305/35/20 in the rear?

That will fit fine. Personally, I (and many others) have the following on stock ride height and it clears fine.

285/35/20 - 10" wide
315/35/20 - 11" wide

Great, thank you! Also, do you believe, the stock tire sizes on wider rims could have caused the steering wheel to shake, if all else seemed to be good? Like, my tie rods were fine, and alignment was fine. The only thing I noticed when I took the wheels off the car today was uneven tread wear in the middle. My tire pressures are always set to 36-37 psi, so there were no signs of overinflation.

Will my turn radius be affected?

I run 295/30 and 315/30 with being lowered 1.25 and no issues what so ever!

Same here, when I had the 20x10 front and 20x11 rear I ran 285/35 on the front and 315/35 on the rear and lowered 1.25 with no issues. Now I'm running 285/35 front on 10.5 wheels and 335/30 on 11.5 wheels with no issues. You might have a balance issue with the tires/wheels on the front, or the struts going bad..

tire shake can be several things.....tire out of round, tire separating, tire not balanced properly, if aftermarket wheels, the center hole in the aftermarket wheel may be the wrong size and need a Hub Centric ring to properly center the wheel on the hub.

I didn't even think about that. I have balanced those wheels 3 times and it did not help. So I guess I'm going to try the new tires, and if that doesn't work then the ring. I have the 2/28 replicas on the car. 20x9 and 20x10.

The wheels mount fine on the car, but how would know if I need the rings, before I buy the tires?

Should find it from wheel manufacture or use a dial indicator and measure hub opening on wheel, stock is 66.9mm. So say your wheels have a hub size of 76mm, you would need hub centric rings that are 76 od, and 66.9 id.

Got it! I'll look into that, thank you!
