No plans to sell, but I really dig the current generation Civic Type R.

Love the car, but I get the sense this thread is about road courses That Nova is at home on the dragstrip tho!
That was a 67 Chevy II Nova. The only thing Chevy II was the body. Full tube chassis car. The driver's seat was located pretty much where the rear seat footwell would have been. The 32 had a full cage, wheelie bars and chute. It just never got a real engine installed to need them. It was still quick because it was just over 2,300 lbs.

Yeah grew up as a stop light racer. No interest in road racing. I wish I was capable of really building and maintaining a drag car. I always had to rely on buddies that really new what they were doing. Consequently never tried to go sanctioned racing. Just played around at test and tune nights when the guys that knew what they were doing were going to really test and tune not play like me.

You should try an autocross with your ZL1. If you are a good bracket racer at the drag strip, you'll likely be a good autocrosser. I say this because a good bracket racer has 1 million things going through their mind as they are going down the track and they are able to process information fast. The same quality applies to autocross. You have to have very fast reactions to what is going on. Once you do a few laps you'll wonder what took you so long to try it. That adrenaline feeling you get after crossing the line with a win at the drag strip is about 1/3rd of the adrenaline rush you get from doing a good autocross lap. There's no comparison from laying down a killer run on a 45-50 second course. It's also 100 times easier on the wallet. Take that with a grain of salt though. As with any motorsport, you can jump in the deep end and make it as expensive as you like, but most guys simply need tires year after year. Good tires in big sizes can run $1500+/4.

I'm liking the poll results so far, they seem pretty accurate.

The GT350 is a good car with a very interesting engine, the Dark Horse is the new shiny thing, the Mach 1 is complete meh, and interest in a non-Mustang followup is 10x stronger, because these things can't replace the Camaro.

I would have to drive the S650 before I committed to it as a track car. I've driven some pre 19' GT350s and loved the motor, everything else was meh. The main complaint was the lack of overall balance and refinement chassis wise, not taking into account overheating, sloppy transmission and lack of feedback. But man, I love that motor!

That is very tough price range for a track car and quite honestly, the SS 1LE is still king. Looking at the 65k options, there aren't many, though I would pick the C7 GS at this moment.

Off topic - My son sold his MK7.5 GTI and went with a 2023 Elantra N and for it being basically stock, the track performance is mind blowing.

I really want a C8, but that is a whole other budget level. Terry F. has a new Dark Horse with track pack or whatever they call it and he ran it stock (off the trailer) on one of tracks I run and equaled my best lap times on 200TW. I think the DK has better tires. He's working on doing some more mods and more testing so it will be interesting to see how a track prepped DK performs. He has also built his own version of a Mustang GT3/4 based on a S550 that is highly modded and crazy fast on 200TW. He posts everything on FB.

Is it just me, or does the dark horse look as bad as the mid-year refresh of the Camaro SS?

My ZLE will be paid off in less than 2 years. Around that time, I'll refresh the engine, do a few mods, and keep on racing.

Well, at the least the wheels are an improvement. Not sure what possessed them to go with the "snowflake" ones that they've been using on the M1.

And I guess we should be honored that with the DH body it looks like they are trying to pay tribute to the Camaro.

Having said that, I'll stick with the Camaro.
