This will certainly free up some of the air flow space lost on the intercooler. We back cut and boxed in the factory piece on my car, and while it helped, there is still limited access for air flow. This is due mostly to the proximity of the intercooler to the back of the factory piece. There is roughly 1/2 inch of clearance between the two.

Unobtanium, excellant looking piece and fantastic fabrication...

holy crap, if only I was interested in taking a little more weight off the back, but im already upsetting the weight balance a bit by removing the rear seats and switching to a lightweight battery.

What size tungsten are you using and cup. Nice looking welds as I do this daily also.
