Anybody delete the sound tube?

I PM'd Mishimoto as they made a sound generator delete kit for my STI (same setup as our 6th gens off the TB tube into the firewall) and im wondering about intrest in the camaro. Its useless and would clean the engine bay up a tiny bit.

I think that it would be as easy as putting a rubber plug in place of the sound generator inlet in the intake tube, and then removing all the hoses under you hood. I never really looked at that system until I installed my CAI yesterday.

tossed mine off when I did the MSD and CAI CAI, put an inverted 5/8 plug in with some black sillycone. The CAI make more than enough engine noise, and it is a tad bit cleaner with out all that junk

with the way the factory sound tube is set up, doesn't it also pull in air from the cabin?

But how do I brag to my buddies that I have a sound tube if I take it out?

the tube has a air motor in it there is no air that moves through it. Think of it as a Jensen speaker with no magnet instead there is a tube to the top of the intake tube that powers up the motor... there is a hole in the firewall that I fixed with trusty duct tape for now..

So, technically, the sound tube is really just for additional motor/air intake sound to the cabin, no other "real" reason? I was planning on getting the Rotofab, which is available with the sound tube delete ...

The sound tube is a gimmick and a complete waste of engineer dollars that would have been better spent elsewhere (rear diff noise, wireless charging plate size, couple extra exhaust clamps instead of 1 piece design, etc).

If you go Rotofab the delete option is well worth it.

What kind of rubber cap and what size? Also, what did you do with the hole in the intake tube itself? Thanks!

Not sure about the cap. I just had one laying in my garage.

I was doing a LT4 swap, so my intake tube is the same as the '17 ZL1 which doesn't have the sound tube hole.
