Just unsure if I would go that way after reading the issues that some Stingray and Z06 owners are having with their A8 automatic transmissions.

Well, I have only had mine for around 500 miles but so far I like it and no issues.

Went from 2014 2SS manual to this automatic and have not regretted it at all.

A8 is a fantastic transmission both on paper and in reality but I cannot speak for the performance aspect of it as I have only driven a 6.2 Silverayyydo with the A8.

Its just killer in the auto mode and it really shifts quickly wide open throttle in the paddle mode. Unless I'm running hard I just leave it in the auto mode.

No issues and it performs really well at the track and on the street. 2100 miles on mine. Several passes at the track.

Stuck on a shift, hard or wrong auto shifts and overheating issues on some Corvettes and pickups.

But from what I read here zero issues on the new Camaro. Glad to hear it.

Too bad GM did not offer the A8 on the new SS 1LE

I love my A8 transmission, but I drive an LT which has the same architecture as the A8's in the Camaro SS and Corvettes, but it's slightly smaller. V6's come with the 8L45 and SS/Corvettes come with the 8L90.

I believe from what I've read on the Corvette Forums is that 99% of the issues (and there have not been a HUGE number) of problems with the A8 was not mechanical related but seemed more to be software driven. Mechanically, the integrity of the unit seems fairly bullet proof for the most part. There may be some anomalies out there but the vast majority of Vette owners are VERY satisfied with the A8.

Now, overheating issues with the Z06 are another story. LOL

I would not hesitate to buy the A8 - I drove it and loved it.

I drove one, but didn't buy it.

It had nothing to do specifically with this 8 speed auto, but everything to do with Wifey and I deciding to get a manual, after not having one for 5-6 years. We simply just missed rowing our own. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, nor buy one in the future.
