Detail spray?
Can I make my own detail spray using a mixture of liquid polish and water? Does that sound like it would work?

No. You could make a spray able watered down polish with little to no cutting ability though

I use Optimum No Rinse as a detail spray and as a no rinse wash. You can get a gallon of it for around $40. You only need 2oz to mix with water for a great detail spray and you can make a ton of it so it works out to be really cheap compared to buying pre mixed ones.

I use some waterless wash mixed correctly to use as detail/lube but I also use the megiars in the dark red bottle I get at advance also.

I buy Adams detail spray in the gallon size. The price isn't too bad buying in bulk.
I use detail spray after every wash and throughout the week so I want the best I can find.

I use ultima's waterless wash diluted for a detail spray. Comes in concentrate and makes gallons of spray.

One thing that I loved about adam's detail spray... The price... Not so much. Does work amazingly though.

I love ONR but not for detail spray. I think Adams clearly wins this contest all others are competing for second place.

I have tried the dilution for ONR as detail spray, clay lube, and waterless wash. I have found that it works best for me as waterless wash. I'm no product expert but feel Adams detail spray is slicker, wipes/drys faster with less streaking. And there this guy with this fabled product recommendation thread that says so

I don't disagree with Adams being the best, I just like to get others reasoning. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2

I bought a clay bar kit earlier today made by Meguiar's and it came with some detailing spray. I assume I will use most of it to clay bar my whole car? But if not, I will have some to use for the odd job every now and then... Like bugs on my bumper. BLAH can't go a day without them
