And that is where you lose me. Who's not enjoying their car because they haven't racked 20 grand a year on it. I drive a Silverado most of the time and my wife uses her Subi as a daily driver. The Camaro is a fair weather toy and gets driven sufficiently enough for us to enjoy. All are also kept in above average state of cleanliness. Oh and I also have a bike but don't drive it as much as I did when I wore a younger man's leathers. Am I missing something??

No, your not. I am just referring to not driving a car, any car, to keep the miles down. That was my rant. I equate it to having a vintage bottle of wine you never drink, an awesome painting you keep locked in a safe. Yeah you have it, but what good is it? Bragging rights? Ego?

Driving various vehicles under varying conditions is a nice luxury that fortunately, we enjoy.

No, my rant is purely aimed at folks who don't drive a vehicle solely based on the mileage they will put on. That's all.

Now that's some scary low miles. My wife's is practically worn out by comparison.

I dont drive my car because I'm not there to drive it. Being an otr driver for months at a time, precludes me from racking up miles on my car. When I come home, I drive it everywhere I go. But, the one thing many people forget or either dont realize is, I drive for a living. The very last thing I want to do on my days off is do what I do for a living, which is drive. Hence the reason I have so little miles on my car. I dont have to drive it 1000 miles in a week or in a month to enjoy it. Simply driving it is enjoying it.

Its not like back in the 'old' days where you could actually order through picking individual options, a one off car. Even then, you would not have known. The ridiculous thought that any 2010 through 2015 Camaro will be worth a retirement is ridiculous. There are like 3 option packages you are forced to buy, then no special colors you could order or strange engine, interior, trim packages.

Even not driving it, you are still paying for a car that requires insurance premiums, maintenance costs, storage and the ever present paranoia factor of some phantom damage.

I always love the story of a concourse resto that some obsessive collector has stashed in his garage. He has a party, invites his friends over to look at his prized possession. Turns on garage lights, they all look at the stationary object of the collectors wet dream, say cool, now lets go have a drink. Wow, was it worth it? You pay for years of insurance and upkeep and never recoup the cost, and you NEVER get to enjoy driving the machine.

Also, ever notice in the car show drive buy's, NOBODY driving their cool vintage rod or car EVER looks happy! Rarely will you see smiles and waving. Looks like the driver and passenger just sucked on a lemon!

I know I sound bitter, but cars are not irreplaceable one off works of art. I do think cars are art to my eye, but really, they stamped the SAME fenders/door/trunk etc. for a 1970 Cuda whether it was a HEMI or a 318 or 6cyl. Yet a replica is not worth half a what a real, off the production line HEMI example would be worth. Doesn't matter even if every rusted out panel, frame bits and even paint are duplicated. The place on the production line is all that matters to these loons. Take a non rusted 6 cylinder Cuda with 23K miles on it, Replace all the anemic parts with period correct legit Hemi parts and pieces, and it's considered a 'Tribute' car. But as stated earlier, take a basket case rusted, blown out beat down hulk and restore it, its worth a mint. You can replace the fenders, doors, everything and its a restored original. My azz. The guys who painted the stupid marks on the suspension are long gone. The folks who painted it are long gone. The tires don't have 1970 smog air in them. The oil is new, the carpet is new. It's a fake as a fake painting. Oh wait, its Restored.

I'm done finally.

Whew!

-Tony
You are correct (didn't even read half of your post sorry). These cars will not have the collector value that some people assume. It would have to be something unique about it and not the mods people do. Factory unique options with extremely low miles. Our cars are made in to many numbers to be worth something.
