Looking at Buying a 2010 or 2012 Camaro, could use some advice.

Hey,

I own a 95 Camaro, and am looking toward purchasing a new one. Right now I'm looking at both a 2010 LT and 2012 LS.

What I'm curious about is what the difference is between the two years mostly, and which is really a better buy for price.

I can get the 2012LS with 23k miles for 20,000$, or can go for a 2010LT with about 50-60k miles for 17,000$.

I'm curious which one is the better purchase, is the 2012 with a bit less miles worth the extra 3000$ or are they so similar that its a no brainer to go with the 2010 for the lower price point? Is there a big difference between the 2010s and 2012s? I've heard there were some changes between 2010 and 2012 somewhere that improved visibility a good deal, is that even true?

Since my last Camaro is 20 years old I'm not quite up to speed on all the details of these new ones, the pros/cons, etc.

Any advice would be very appreciated.

Although I have never owned a V6, I think you can't go wrong with a camaro. The styling is great on them and they handle great. I don't know how the performance of the V6 is compared to the SS or ZL1. I know I felt the SS was lacking a bit because the car is heavy. Maybe one of the V6 guys can chime in regarding performance.

I think as far as changes go, the biggest changes between the 2010 and the 2012 is the instrument cluster needles are thinner and the font is different. The new ones are easier to read but they are less retro. I actually prefer the older ones. Also the steering wheel is different, again matter of preference. The 2010 is more retro (meaner) and lastly the dash on the 2012 has a leather pad which dresses up the dash a bit, it does look nicer in my opinion. As far as mechanical changes I don't think there were any for the V6.

Hope I helped a bit

Lfx = 323hp, less miles and newer engine. The 12 has a better radio and suspension.
LLt = 305hp, more miles but you can put headers on it and no steelies.
You can probably find a 13 with the same amount or less miles than the 12. It depends on your budget and if 3k isn't holding you back, get the newer car. Take your time and check every avenue because for 3 to 6k more you can be in a SS. Just do your homework and use all the tools out there at your disposal. Some other more informed people will chime in soon.

The horsepower was bumped up to 323 because the change to the LFX motor from the LLT. The 2010 was advertised with 304HP but in actuality it had the same 312HP the 2011 had.

i wouldn't limit yourself to those 2 cars... use cars.com and look around your area/state. get a feel for what you want and a good price.

if you are willing to travel a little some dealers near me have brand new 14's for fairly good price. 2ls (automatic) for 22.6k or a 1ls (manual) for 21.4k

or you can look into shipping it.

I have a 2012 and I am really happy with it. The 6 cylinder has good pick up and plenty of power.

The thing I would look for is the RS package. It's a nice upgrade and the Halo lights look awesome.

As a point of reference for pricing, I just bought a 2011 1LT black/black cloth, sunroof, auto, 25K miles and a clean CarFax for $17,700.
