From what I've read the 1LE is the answer to the SS's handling miscues. GM was just "nice" enough to put it in as an option rather than putting it in the rest of these cars. Even as an option, it's a hell of a deal. Wish I had one
GM tweaked the standard SS suspension in 2012 from FE3 to FE4. I was pretty impressed with it in some light track time - very neutral and easy to drive fast. Understeer didn't seem to be an issue. The 1LEs were easily faster however. They looked to be still on rails when I was drifting.

Third and fourth are both shorter (overall) on the 1LE than the SS. That's going to be the gears you use most on a road course.

When you compare these charts look especially at the third row, Redline Upshift RPMs (RUR). That is what the motor drops to when you run to the revline in the previous gear and upshift. That is where it keeps you in the powerband.

Reading the RUR right to left will tell you how low your RPMs have to be before you downshift.

Here is an SS:

SS with 3.91
Very useful thanks.

I would keep the PAID OFF ss and put some of the money into the suspension set up from the 1LE, this will give you the piece of mind of the paid off car and still some of the big advantage to the 1LE in the suspension.
