New Kia vs Camaro - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Some interesting things going on at my work... I have a 10, 2ssrs 6 speed. Ive driven it to work twice in 6 months....

But when I went back to work this week I hear about this old guy that just got a new Kia Optima, the turbo one, and all of a sudden its the fastest car out lol.

Hes been telling people how it beats new camaros, I just giggled, Ive never raced anyone, probably wont.

But anyways, theres a kid at my work, that has a 2002 TA, every week it has a different motor(without changing it), one week its a ls1, next week its a ls6, then ls9, then lq9 lol, and he can smash my camaro too, so he says.

But I come back from lunch in my inline 6 cylinder trail blazer, to hear some news.

The Kia and the TA were racing, going about 130, and got pulled over by a state trooper.

Luckily for them, the trooper told them both get out of the car, asked them what the f they were doing, my young friend told the truth, and he let them go.

Whats my point?

People are stupid with their, My car can beat yours, especially when talking about a KIA OPTIMA, or a 2002 trans am this guy bought for 10 grand that has 800 supposed horsepower, but he doesnt know what kind of motor it has.

Second, maybe they know now why theres no point in racing.

There are not that many cars on he road that are faster than the new ss. No reason for a guy with that much Hp to be insecure. Today I finally got to see this kid from my works new 5.0. Our buddy said we should line them up. I laughed because I have a v6 and you must be a fool if you think that's a race. The kid with the mustang agreed and we both smiled. Knowing what your talking about will get you more respect than peeing on someone's leg and telling them it's raining.

At 130 they are very lucky they got away with it. I would have been taken to jail.

130 and let go? The cop that pulled them over was probably retiring the next day...that's unheard of and unsafe! I'm not saying I enjoy being pulled over but man if people were getting away with speeds like that I'd be taking the train to work!

I just did a quick Google search and it looks like the mid-size four door 274hp Kia Optima is trapping 99mph in the 1/4 during an edmunds test.

Sure its 0-60 times sux but that's just the nature of the beast of having 270 ft.lbs of torque at only 1,750rpm (3,450rpm sooner the the LS) all going to the front wheels.

Sounds like a drivers race from a roll.
