IDK... The more I see of it, the more it's starting to grow on me.

This time around they can't and won't reveal nearly as much very far ahead of time. We will be relying on spy shots, "inside" information or rumors, and as the time gets closer we will likely see teaser shots. Just like any other new car.
Why can't they?

Because GM and myself would rather not let Ford and others know exactly what the car will look like two years from production.

I pray the 6th gen doesn't look like that.

It looks like a cross between the 5th gen and Achmed the Dead Terrorist's son from the Jeff Dunham act.

Transformers 4 isn't slated to release until June 27, 2014. The production 2010 Camaro was officially revealed in July 2008 by GM and Transformers was released with a near-production concept in early July 2007. There is a pretty obvious trend here. It's not like there was no Mustang competition with the fifth gen.

The concept was never intended for production. That's the only reason it seems as though GM showed it early.

The production car was revealed less than a year before production started in April of 2009. Production of the 6th gen won't start until 2015ish, maybe 2016.

And the trend needs to end. I'm tired of GM showing their cards ridiculously early just to satisfy a bunch of spoiled enthusiasts. All it does is provoke knee-jerk reactions when GM doesn't fully release details (which they never do if the reveal takes place far before production begins) and gives the competition a heads-up on what to improve on their cars.

The SUV launch is exactly what GM should be doing. Reveal a few months prior to production. Hell if I had it my way, GM wouldn't reveal cars until a month or so before production.

Couldn't agree more.

I would agree with your critique of the trend, but it's a trend nonetheless.

I think it's ending, or at least being curtailed. I think SUVs were actually supposed to be shown by now. Considering that production starts early next year, they have less than a year.

I see a lot to like on this. And I like this rear over the 2014 refresh.

I'd buy this car.

My hunch is that the 6th gen WILL look a lot like that.

The movie comes out a 1 yr from now. By that point, the new Mustang will probably in the showrooms (or nearly there). Sticking a mock-up of the next Camaro in a movie like Transformers makes a lot of sense. Obviously, the Mustang is going to be getting a lot of attention next year. GM is going to need to crank up its own advance-publicity machine for the Camaro.

Count me in the minority that thinks this looks pretty good. I think it looks like a leaner, meaner version of the current car.

Looks more like a Japanese ricer than an American muscle car, IMO. The shape of the front end reminds me a lot of a Cavalier. If the 6th gen ended up looking something like this I would be sorely disappointed.

And, ugh, those tail lights!

I like the yellow lettering on the tires, though. That's a nice touch.
