I can phone the police while holding my P226, or open a door, window, etc. While it's true I can physically hold up both my M1 carbine and my AR15 with one hand at arm's length, I don't think pulling the trigger in that situation would be a good idea.
I agree it's not the best choice but, for some people who can't shoot a hand gun well under stress or handle the recoil of a shot gun, it is an option.

Yep just bought a super old school flint lock. Old British Dragoon pistol, smooth bore, no rifling on the barrel. Its super cool. Got it in case I go muzzle loading hunting with my nephew.

About a month ago, I bought the new (as of this year) Taurus pt111 Millennium G2. I never really trusted Taurus for semi-autos before, but heard good things and the price was right. It is THE sweetest shooting, most comfortably gripped little CCW 9mm I've ever carried on my waist. I have a S&W m&p9c and a Shield, both outstanding for CCW, but even so I grab the G2 to put in my waistband when I head out ever since I've gotten it. This isn't a sales pitch for Taurus by any means, but if anyone was on the fence about this gun or interested in a cheap ($350) CCW gun, it's an amazing little under-dog.

Can anyone speak on the difference between vertical fore grips as opposed to angled ones? I have a vertical on my Saiga right now but I was reading up on the angled ones. I'm curious if anyone actually has any experience with them.

I think it's similar to Chevy/Ford rivalry out there. I've used both, I own both on different rifles it just really comes down to preference. The AFGs can feel a little more natural if you're extending your arm and grabbing the whole handguard. Even with VFGs I've gotten into the habit of grabbing in front of the grip and having my bottom fingers on the grip and top on the handguard with thumb on top of the rifle... One is not better than the other so I'd suggest you buy it just to try.

New? Nope, 1988 Sig Sauer P226

Old nazi junk. This one is interesting, it was captured by the Soviets after WWII but it is still all numbers matching, non-force matched. The attentive will note it's loaded. With a snap cap, though
