Please people, you bought a very unique, high performance car, learn how to do the very simple maintenance (oil and differential fluid changes) yourself, it isn't hard and at least you'll know they are done correctly with the correct fluids... (Please DO NOT THINK A DEALER will always do things right, you will be VERY surprised how often they screw things up...) Literally for about $50 you can buy a decent set of nylon ramps and an oil drain pan (and a proper size wrench)... This car is about the easiest car, maintenance wise, I have ever owned, it is made to be worked on... You DO NOT need a lift, but it is easy...

I appreciate all of the responses. I have two things to say about this. 1. I'm not trying to be an ass here but in my original thread I plainly said "For those of you that let the dealership change the oil in your ZL1". I knew I would get comments from some of you about not letting the dealerships work on your cars. Not all of us feel that way. Not all of us want to or are able to work on our cars. 2. It's great if you do the work on your cars. For those of us that have cars that are still under warranty, when you do your own work you have no proof that the work was done or that it was done correctly. If the dealership does the work there is proof of what has been done. If something happens with my car I don't want to have to fight with GM to get warranty issues taken care of. |

That being said, those of you that do your own basic maintenance, that’s awesome. I have a lot of respect for that, but I also have respect for those that have another(mechanic/dealer) do it.
