I've had mine since 1200 miles and I've picked up some decent sized shavings over the last year. I wipe it clean every oil change and there is always a clump of microscopic shavings mixed with oil on the magnet. This is stuff that could of been getting cycled through out the engine.

They also have magnets that you can apply to your oil filter. I think I seen it at summit or jegs !

Wouldn't the specs be M12 x 1.75?...also wouldnt Napa gold be better than auto zones mag drain plug?...if I'm going to buy a plug over the stocker, I would like it to be worth it

Then buy this one.

I'm sure it's just as good or crappy as anything at Autozone/Advance. It supposedly doesn't fit, but the thread size is the same. Length is not listed. The Dorman piece is 3mm longer than stock, but apparently is not an issue as the guy never reported back with a problem.
