If some AFM or other valve train issue comes up to where there's a known problem, it's likely the issue will be covered eventually by GM under recall or in a CAL.... Maybe. Last edited by MAGAUSA; 05-13-2017 at 02:44 PM. Reason: Misspelling |

And as much as I'd like to get a tune and make her faster, I'm not touching her until my warranty is up or close to up. Been down that road and as awesome as it is to have your baby pushing over 500hp, I don't want to go there without having the funds to replace the motor or god-knows what else that could go wrong. Short story, modded the shit out of my sti, it was running like a monster. Beyond anyone's control, the oil pickup cracked, starved the motor and I spun a bearing. This was right after I gave a $8000 deposit on re-doing my kitchen. Literally the day after. My heart sank. Lesson learned in my book, like many have said here, make sure you have the money to play. Shit always happens at the worst time.

Had the same exact thoughts with a full bolt on and tune. Bottom line is there is always some risk when you mod like that because you will void your warranty. If you install everything properly and get a reputable tune the risk is lower, but if you make one mistake, just know that there is some risk that you'll have to pay to replace any power-train parts on top of the cost of all of your mods.
You just have to figure out if that risk is worth the reward. |

I agree with what you said, except that the 3yr/36,000 mi is your bumper to bumper warranty, it's 5yr/60,000 mi for your power train which is a much longer wait, just saying.

Get a nitrous wet kit, relatively inexpensive with lots of HP and torque.

I've had 6 camaros, modified every one, beat every one until 100,000 miles, trade it in and get another. Never blew one up (except a 81 305 I blew up on purpose since I had a built 350 waiting for it)
Just ordered my first FI system. Can't wait to get it.

I did light bolt ons and a tune. And my dealer is awesome. No worries. My car picked up several tenths and 6 MPH in the 1/4 with very little done. I wouldn't change a thing.
