HELP... DEALER WONT ISSUE TAGS, AFTER TEMP HAS EXPIRED

If you recall, 10/17 I posted a pic of my 2002 Montero Sport, Which I now use as Daily Driver. Since then my 1LS has been sleeping peacefully.

I was forced to wake her up for my commute to work today... after about a mile, I was like What the FUGGS was I thinking, how could I let this Monster sleep, how I Miss the Grip as she hugs the corners, the pull when you drop it into 4th for a high speed passing....yea I need the extra space the Montero provides, and don't want to run the mileage up on the Camaro...Today is Happy Friday but, everyday can be Friday when I drive my Camaro....like really after I got out I stared at her for a good 4 minutes before walking into the office

HERE IS WHERE I NEED HELP
10/17 I was issued a temp tag good for 30 days, for the last 2 week I have been calling my dealer asking where are my plates.

RILEY MOTORS
1030 Route 18
East Brunswick, NJ 08816

Everyday is a new excuse, the tags expired yesterday Legally I cannot drive the Truck or have it parked anywhere, it not registered.

Call the dealer explain the situation and his response OH WELL PARK IT AND WAIT: mad0260: the tags are not here.

NOW WHAT DO I DO

First call is to the Bank -

At the end of the deal, dealer hit me with a $399.00 Documentation Fee, and I wanted an extended warranty which was another $1300. I financed the balance owed.

The bank position is there is nothing they can do.....

2nd Call to the DMV - explained the situation, they requested I fax over a copy of the bill of sale and temp registration, after faxing I'm advised there is an investigation unit that will look into the issue but will take 7-10 business days

3rd Call - POLICE - there like theres nothing we can do sue the dealer in small claims court

LIKE REALLY WHAT DO I DOA Truck that is paid for yet cannot drive it

Call your city or county attorneys office. I would also call a local TV station that has a consumer advocate team and tell them the story. Dealer will not like getting bad mouthed on local television.

Call your local TV station and explain. They may get on it right away.

I am not saying to do anything illegal but I watch people around here drive on expired tags for 6 months or longer. My neighbor drove for over a year and half before he got his plates (his own fault ofcoarse!) .
I don't see why the dealer wont just give you another temp. plate?
I had a friend this happened to and the car he bought from a major dealer turned out to be stolen. Thats why the dealer could not get plates...somthing for you to look into maybe?

they have to issue you a 2nd temp! call and ask for the title clerk and explain the issue or ask to speak to the gsm or gm

In bergen county NJ, the police would have a field day, you cant even have a Vehicle Parked in your driveway that is not registered, which is why I'm so Concerned

I'd get my own tags. Go to DMV and show them the title and explain the dealer won't give you the tags. Be tactful and polite. Don't start yelling. Why can't you get with the dealer and tell him you are not parking the vehicle one day? Just ask to talk to the owner.

Its Illega lIf they Issue a 2nd temporary tag , the DMV can revoke their MV license and their ability to do motor vehicle and issue temporary's.

They can also issue a healthy fine for doing something illegal. The state can go through their "Temp log" (which they have to keep) and investigate them

In the state of NJ the DMV will only issue tags to the dealership if there is a LEIN on the title, 2 hous in the DMV trying to do it myself

Sounds like the laws are alot tougher there than here in SD. I live in a small town and cops just don't care about this type of stuff.

I would drive it anyway. When you get pulled over, explain to the cop the situation and let him run the vin to see if its stolen or not. If you get a ticket haul the dealer into court with you and let them explain!
