CAGS Skip Shift Eliminator

I purchased : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AO328FW/

Location is on the driver side, just need to jack the front up to get access.

Tools needed: 9"long thin flathead (9" metal shaft length) a bit shorter should still work if you can get to it.

Put your flathead behind this bracket, pry a bit at the connector release and it should easily pop off. On the eliminator look at the white connector understand how it latches if needed.

Connect the end of the eliminator(Black) to the connector you just unplugged(white) and then guide the connector back to the solenoid connector. I wear size Large gloves and was able to use two fingers with my hand against the trans tunnel to push the connector in once lined up.

The wire on the eliminator is stiff enough to be used to fish the white connector back up the transmission.

And you are done, took me all of 5min once under the car.

Very helpful. Looking on the SLP website at the link below (click on "installation" tab once there) is also a help. It has pictures of a tranny removed from the car and leaves no doubt to the location involved.

once installed, will the display between the gauges still show the 1-4 skip shift indicator light when computer thinks that that skip shift is active?

Yes. ECU is still calling for the skip shift. Trans just isn't getting the message to engage the stop between 1 and 2.

Yes it still displays on the dash, and serves to remind you what a good idea it was to install the eliminator.

Ha. What this car really needs is a notification eliminator. There's a wi-fi notification. Bluetooth notification. Parking brake disabled notification. Always some annoying notification popping up.

Can and will cause trans to lock in neutral speratically. Throw this thing in trash and just get a tune already. They can tune it out and not effect anything. Worst $20 mod you can purchase.

^ That never happened on my LS1 cars ever. I guess these are different, but that sounds nuts.

How? The solenoid itself is unplugged, while the harness side has a connector with a resistor to pass diagnostic checks. What you've described is not possible, or at least I'm not seeing how it could be.

I used a resistor on my '00 Z28 for 12 years and used the harness in the original post on my'17 SS for a year and a half. I never had an issue with either.

"They can tune it out and not affect anything"... except your warranty!!

Had a skip shift eliminator on a Gen5 and now on a Gen6. It prevents the signal to skip shift from getting to the mechanism in the tranny that makes that happen. It always works; there are no downsides. There are many threads here in which the value of the benefits are debated and debated. But saying it can and cause locking in neutral is fake news.

I see many brands of the eliminator, are they all the same or is one preferred over the other?

Probably all very similar - many choices on Amazon starting at $8.99. Many have customer reviews. If you're driving style is such that you're getting the occasional forced 1 to 4 shift, the minor hassle of installing one of these will be highly worth your effort.

Are you sure you didn’t plug the skip shift eliminator into the reverse lockout solenoid harness? I’m pretty sure the connectors are identical.

If you installed it correctly, I can’t see what you’ve described happening.
