Ok, if you want to go by deliveries for the last 4 months of 2012 Vs 2013 here are the numbers. 2012-21,093 and 2013-21,411 so September through December each year, 2012 actually delivered 318 FEWER CARS!

Me too! Actually, considering what comes to mind when you think of these pony cars' history, I was surprised to see that this was one of the top selling mustangs of all time. I thought those were the dark ages for the stang, but apparently not.

You have to consider the times, people were scared about the oil shortage and smaller cars were in style while big V8 cars were not.

I think the numbers are interesting, but...

Why do we care if they sell more Mustangs?

People are snapping up the current Mustang because the 2015 looks too much like _name any number of other cars_...

From the majority of the posts in the thread they are trying to convince everyone the refresh was a failure...

Agreed, but I'm not sure how anyone benefits from winning that argument.

Incentives do not explain sales

Cam5 posters say Ford incentives count for sales success.
I copied data from Detroit about incentives. It is attached.
GM is the incentive leader. Ford came up but from a lower point,
and still under GM.

If you do not want a car I don't think the incentive could make you buy. Surprised by the solid axle stang numbers. I thought they would fall to the Challenger level after the 2015 was introduced.

Ford will produce S197s to the end of June '14. wrote earlier the 2014 stang is the best solid axle pony car ever, the sales are supporting that.

When sales weaken they kill the model, (ie. 2002)
The built cars loose value.

That's GM as a whole, how are the incentives for the Mustang vs. the Camaro affecting sales?

The 5th gen is nowhere near that point. As long as GM is on track with putting out product that is appealing to the consumer and complementing it with quality, there should be no reason for the Camaro to suffer that fate again. I believe if it does, it's just because the demand for these types of cars will fade because of the lack of interest from the younger and upcoming generations.

The industry sources I find do not break out by model.
Malibu/Camaro - Fusion/Mustang why would it make a difference?
You need to sell the inventory regardless. The lots have more
family cars than muscle cars, would not the incentives be on the
family cars? That's where the high inventory numbers are.

Because this compares only Mustang, Camaro and Challenger sales, so they are the only incentives pertinent to this thread.
