They probably did this because the correct spelling was already used or taken by someone else who made a # for it. Pretty common on social media platforms where the good names are always taken.

That's not how Instagram works. That hashtag is so people can search for "Camaro" tagged pics. They just made a stupid spelling error like the OP said.

I hate hashtags as much as the next guy, but I have to agree. The purpose is to produce a searchable term that is "trending." If you create a new term, it is less likely that your term will trend, especially if it is misspelled or exceptionally long. What they should have done is put "#Camaro #Z28 #Z/28" to capitalize on 3 potentially popular searches. That way, they could have come up in all 3 as a result.
