Hello all,

Been a lot of messages going back and forth about winter time driving. Would any of you consider buying a Camaro with All Wheel Drive, (AWD). Remember AWD is a lot different than 4 wheel drive and some top end cars now have them, including Audi.

I would buy one in a heartbeat if given the choice.

Great for wintertime driving, but typically adds quite a bit of weight. I would rather drive my beater for a couple months.

I am of the belief that AWD will eventually become a necessary option for vehicles. That does not condemn the RWD platform to death, but it should be an option eventually.

I would not trade my Camaro SS for any AWD car any time soon, including a new Camaro SS with AWD.

We get plenty of bad winter driving conditions where I live. Just last week I saw plenty of FWD cars that couldn't seem to get unstuck or even get going after a stop. My RWD car was fine.

If you think the Camaro weighs a lot now, wait until it has all wheel drive. But I can't see the need or the desire. I figure GM would drop the model before that became a reality, and just concentrate on the Corvette

If it was a performance AWD system like a GTR I would be interested. My Camaro got me home just fine in 5 inches of snow with my Blizzaks.

One other note, AWD is supposed to distribute the power a whole bunch better than either rear wheel or front wheel drive. Would like to see one on the strip.

I think maybe as an option, not standard. Plus they can't skimp on the power either. Make all 4 wheels burnout :-D

It does tend to be a drag on performance after launch, though. Imagine if we could launch in AWD and gradually reduce power to the front wheels as necessary to maximize performance and reduce loss of traction and wheelspin while changing gears along the way.

No. AWD can have performance advantages if its handled right. Camaro has traditionally been rwd so I would be less tolerant of a different platform assigned to it.
