Yeah, you're right. I just built a 2014 2SS on line. I got my 2012 2SS 45TH Edition for 36.5K after some dealing...

Her credits 602 ish (with 8yr old repo and other bad marks) and my names tied up in the Lacrosse prob 18k down payment 35,000 is safe zone for me 2014 1ss range but I want HUD............ Should i face fear and spend a lil over 42-44k on 2ss or play it safe with 1ss or buy a used 2011 and feel really safe but see same car everywhere

I bought my 2SS Slightly used, it had 8K miles on it from a dealership and had a full warranty. It's a 2010 that I bought in 2011 but I saved about 10 grand. They had it listed at 40k, because it was kept pristine and had GM Upgraded 21" wheels a borla cat-back (which actually reduces the value but w.e) anyway I ended up putting 2k down and financing it at 30k of 5 years at 2.2% interest. Overall not a bad deal my car payment is slightly over 500 a month ! You could do the same maybe pick up a 2013 on the cheap.

why advise against it, It will have RS pack and though it will cost a little bit i found i could install/ have someone install HUD later. Leather is not important to me. Im sure I would save if I wait until next year and buy a used 14 2ss

Agreed, they're listed up that high around 40k+ usually you can get it talked down. A piece of advice, If you know anyone that is a car salesman bring them with you. I brought my best friend who's a salesman for Ray Catena Mercedes, he saved me lots of money!

the used 13s are not that much cheaper than 35k so i figured I take the hit for the body updates

If it were me in your same situation, I would save, save, save all I could for a few years and then buy exactly what I wanted. That way the wife's credit would be improved and yours would be more available for a car loan. Sometimes you just have to say... "I (we) really can't afford another payment" and work on getting to where you can afford it (or, better yet, pay cash and get out from under the debt altogether). Financial independence is well worth the wait and effort.

My name is on the Lacrosse 6k left on it i havent payed it off because i want to stretch it for credit purpose I had 0 credit when purchased. Funny story I was at the dealer and got approved for 11 Camaro convertible but while there the Lacrosse was on showroom floor and she loved it, had to leave before everything was finalized. I called and had them switch everything over to a Lacrosse, took her with me for pick up and surprised the crap outta her it was close to her b day- from 2001 Grand Marquis to 2011 Lacrosse. I could afford the 2ss Im just mentally afraid of knowing i owe someone over 20k (new to credit scene)thas why i do the big down payments and i can put down more the 18k but christmas is around the corner

I'll just throw this in there that I really enjoy having the HUD. It's the only way I monitor my speed.
