This is what I was trying to say, the magnetic ride is geared at performance but also comfort, if GM wanted the ZL1 to be an all out track rat they would have equipped it with a clubsport suspension like the KW clubsport or something like the Penske race setups. This is like comparing a Porsche GT3 to a GT3 RS or even an RSR the track rat worth half a mill. With this type of more track oriented suspension the ZL1 would have gotten a better lap time.

I see claims that the 2013 GTR weighs 4000 lbs. It is actually heavier than previous years.
On what track does a stock z06/z07 put down better lap times than a 2013 gtr? I really doubt that, specifically on street tires. The 2013 gtr is much faster than the ~2010 cars. There's a point where rwd is at a serious disadvantage on street tires. The 2013 cars trap very similar to a z06 and grip way harder out of the corners.

Z06/Z07s ride on the Pilot Sport Cup tires...I'm not sure what track/examples he's referring to -- but it wouldn't surprise me if a Vette in that configuration could give a gtr a run for its money...

Ah, I didn't know that it ran the sport cups. That makes it much more believable.

it MIGHT give it a run, but a z07 costs about as much as a GTR. That would be like comparing a Boss Mustang vs a ZL1. Might be close but the GTR would do it easier.

That wasn't the point in contention.

Is it necessary to marginalize everything?

Anyway thats a story for a future day.
trying to control all the power is half the fun sometimes. People that drive older cars can appreciate that sort of thing. The GT500 might end up being harder to control around the race track, but that doesnt mean its not going to be fun at all.

So if the Zl1 had beat the GTR what would we have seen next? ZL1 vs 458 Italia? I would say the likelihood of a ZL1 owner running across a new GTR are extremely low anyway. I haven't seen one yet.

They already tested a Boss LS against a ZL1 and the ZL1 blew its doors off! 2.5 second difference on a 2.2 mile course.

You would have a hard time ever beating an AWD performance car even with a big HP advantage. I oft wished GM had offered AWD in the Vette, but it's a lot more fun when the Vette spanks most of them without it.
