Dodge Viper ACR after the ZL1 1LE Nurburgring time

The death of the Viper is really sad to see it go. But this time came just after the ZL1 1LE did such a good time. This guy can drive....holy crapski. I have watched a lot of vids on the 'ring. This one is something else.

Intense ride. Pulling some g's and not so much as a wheel chirp. That acr sticks like glue. And he climbs soooo fast to 280 km/ph

I wouldn't say they were after the time, as the last ACR that was officially run by Chrysler ran a 7:12.13. ZL1 ran a 7:16.04. ACR was already faster and is now even faster.

Ya he is one handing it a lot even in turns…true testament to the Vipers drivability. If you haven't seen the video of Randy Pobst driving it, it's worth a watch. It is the head to head vs. the Z06 and he says "Look ma one hand…in a Viper!"

Wish they put it in MPH vs KPH but not hard to convert with uncle google. I really think a high 6 min time is possible with the ACR. Unfortunately they ran into a lot of weather and mechanical issues. At least they got in this run though and cool it was with a stock ACR right down to the tires.

This is just a testament to Dodge's true sports/race car building for the common man. It was the only true sports car built in America of the Big 3 that could muster a beating of the Corvette. At 3200+ pounds with that much horsepower, it commands respect even if you are not a Mopar customer.

Way to go Dodge....

I wonder if the driver's body was just compulsing after the ride was over lol. Looks insanely tense!

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a testament for building a car for the common man. Dodge did make a great car but it costs 120k+ and 99% of the population cannot drive it to anywhere near it's limit. Real kudos to whomever that driver was. Always loved what the Viper stood for, too bad it's dead.

Well, I was speaking in terms of the "common man" as someone who is not a professional race car driver and the car can actually be driven on the street legally.

True, it "looks" sped up compared to the 1LE vid but it's an optical illusion.

The 1LE camera is placed where you see more of the car interior, in this one they placed the camera right up on the windscreen. Having more interior in the picture provides reference points that your eye intuitively pics up on, without them your eye has nothing to provide as an overall visual reference. Hence it looks more chaotic.

He is driving that thing like a bat out of hell though....

I would really like to see Dodge come out with a new chassis for the charger that could compete on the road course with the Camaro performance / price...I love competition.

The 2017 Dodge Viper ACR is the first front engine, manual, rear wheel drive automobile to run the Nürburgring Nordschleife under 7:10. That's fast people. Oh and someone did 7:13.90 in a C7 ZO6 also......
