I kind of saw that coming with the rear looking bent.
Let the vultures come out.

$20-30k. I would be in for the speakers and associated wiring back to the radio. No cuts.

not super interested in parting it out... Though interior parts probably will go. Thinking more gut it cage it and put her back into service.
Rear is ugly but pretty much cosmetic. Front side passenger extension rail is toast. Driver side probably could be pulled for a track application. I won't even think about it unless I can make sure the car is 100% straight, but for a track car I don't have to replace the front fenders the damage is very superficial on them. I wouldnt need to replace the headlights which are really expensive. Needs cooling fans, oil cooler, probably radiator, Grill, bumper, splitter, probably fender flares. Does have a broken engine mount so that's a little scary but I'm told that is pretty common. |

*CAWWWWWW* Did you hear that? First vulture inbound.
I could use a replacement set of wheels and tires. But I don't have much extra money, but what I do have is a half eaten box of Milk Duds, extremely delicious, and some 3D movie glasses I stole from IMAX, and $3. How am I looking? I say keep it and track it, if it is worth your while. |

The vultures have been PMing since my first mangle photo. No hard feelings from me.. we all need our go fast parts
Seriously I would love to know if you were in my shoes how much would you pay for it. Any minute the insurance company will call me and say the salvage value is $XXXXX and I have to say I want it or I pass. If I want it it they will just take it off the settlement and I have to get it out of the yard ASAP or start paying the storage. |

It was my understanding that if the insurance company pays, they own it, not you. If you take a payout from them, it is no longer your car.

First time I totaled a car but in this case they are happy to sell me the car for whatever they determine is its salvage value.
That could be great or Ill pass depending on the number they put on it. |

But insurance turns around and sells it back to owner.

I would say low 20s then. Youll double that easy making it a track car.

Correct, but you need to let the insurance company know that you want to buy it back. They will pay you out after they have sold it for salvage most often.

I assume it's going to be 10-15k for repairs to get it on the track, not perfect. Can recoup maybe 2-4k on selling seats and interior pieces.. I could see paying... 20k~ for it.
But is a salvage title z/28 going to be worth 30-35k to you? It won't have poop for resale if you change your mind. Then if worst comes to worst, will you protect the 35k investment, or risk losing it? A lot of questions to be considered before buying it back, in my opinion. --- Edit --- I could see salvage value near 30-35k since the brakes are worth nearly 12k new, so 8-10k used? 8-12k for motor/power train. Suspension/Wheels & Tires/General Camaro shell/odds and ends another 12-16k. So salvage value could be quite high. Last edited by Immortan; 11-03-2015 at 07:30 PM. Reason: Parts |
