2022 a10 tuning worth it?

I have a 22” fbo stage 1 cam tuned by gpi. I was thinking about sending my trans module to hptuners to get unlocked and have it tuned. Is it worth the effort and money? How much faster will it be?

Lot of posts discussing this. TCM tunes are generally worth a reduction of 2 to 3 tenths of a second in the quarter mile.

Very much yes. There is tq management in the TCM you cant turn off/down if you dont unlock it and tune it. You will be capped at a certain level otherwise.

Livernois is able to unlock the t93 with their tuner. Wonder if hpt will be able to do that soon

HP Tuners announced T93 support a while ago:

The Livernois tuner is unlocking it through the OBD port. No needing to take it out and mail it.

Much better off with HPT then any of the solid LTx tuners can work their magic. No way I’d want to be locked into one shop.

I agree. I already have the ecm unlocked with hpt and the tune is finished. I’m not going to their tuner. I’m just wondering if hpt will go this route eventually since it’s proven possible. The tcm tuning is really the last part. I’d rather not fiddle with taking it out and mailing it if I don’t have to.

This is a subject not as cut and dry as it seems on the surface so take what the groups are telling you with a grain of salt

FBO, LOL! this is a good one that has no meaning because it means something different to everyone on the planet.

Not picking on you, Humans tend to follow trends even when they are bad ones.

I can unlock TCMs in house, no need to send to HPtuners any more, Your tuner should have the equipment by now.

The ECM calibration is a crucial to how the trans works.

These are torque based systems, so if the ECM CALIBRATION is off even the slightest, the TCM will not know what to do with the wrong torque reported by the ECM.

Stock A-10 Calibration is Spot on when torque reporting is correct.

So any gains from trans tuning on a modified car are typically to cover up poor torque reporting, otherwise little to no gains are to be had.

Also note you there is no drop in tune that will automatically make your car faster it would be a work in progress and you could potentially go backwards, again depending on ECM Calibration accuracy.

Changing Shift points to work better with a larger cam to take advantage of higher RPM Power curve capability are a benefit mostly in a drag racing venue.

This subject is a very deep one that most people will not understand so take what I am telling you very seriously.

Whether you can gain ET from Transmission tuning is all dependent on ECM CALIBRATION and modification list.

Once you mod the car, the throttle will NOT open all the way at the hit of the throttle in the first couple gears. You will exceed the commanded torque by gear limit in the TCM. It gets worse as you do more mods.

Even a bone stock car will not open the throttle all the way on the launch until it rolls out. You will see a delay where the throttle is only 56-70% open for a second or two before the throttle actually opens all the way. This is a limitation in the TCM.

Most of the gains being mentioned are from the ability to launch harder. From a roll you might not see any gains depending on the setup.

This has been proven at the track with video.

I had a BIG TM hit on the 2-3 shift if I recall before tuning it out. Heck - I'm positive I can hear it on newer cars, like the Escalade V (I don't think I've seen videos with the CT5-V doing a 2-3 shift, but I'd be it was there, too). It sounds like it falls on it's face for a moment right after the shift.

You are getting around that with MIN SPARK ADVANCE...
