Alright folks, I am a current Gen 5 owner and have been interested in a 6th gen Camaro since they were announced. I have been obsessed with these forums and your beautiful cars, and have visited the Chevy lots nearby many times.

Well it finally might be my turn! Today I visited a dealer near my house where my brother's friend's father is the sales manager. I dealt with him back in 2011 when I ordered my 2012 and everything was fantastic. I went in with the intentions of ordering a 2017 and potentially leasing if possible. I wanted to try to get below my current payment if possible. As you guys know, the lease rates are terrible on the Camaros, and I saw that first hand when they told me it would hover around $450-$500 per month for a lease- more than I'm paying now- about $410 a month financed for my '12 1LT. I went in there looking to get a 2LT, convenience, nav, RS. I guess I was hoping that the lease prices would be cheaper than financing, but I was wrong. I'm not generally a lease fan, but I was hoping it would allow me to get more of a car than I otherwise would.

Everything changed when I was talking to Bob (sales manager) and he told me more about the Bonus Tag models with 10% back on select 2016s now. We just started chatting for the heck of it about what kind of deals I could see on a 2016 with the Bonus Tag. Now, I had never considered a 2016 seriously because I really wanted the 17- I was convinced that I didn't want the first model year. I also wanted to custom factory order what I wanted like last time. They were more than willing to order me one if that's what I wanted. But they threw me the key to a 1LT/RS they had out front (I love that key fob by the way) and told me to check it out, and I did. It's a 2016 1LT, Blue Velvet (I know, I love the color and you have to snatch them while you can), RS, A8. Unfortunately, I Wanted the V6 and this one has the Turbo 4. I am not opposed to 4-cyl, but the idea of premium gas had me upset. Right now it isn't a problem, but I'm worried about gas prices skyrocketing again.

In any case, I sat inside and loved the car. It had 14 miles on it and a May 2016 build date. Everything was pristine, and worked flawlessly.

I asked them to work me some numbers just to see. The car stickers at $30140. With the bonus tag it's about $27k, and then I have $3000 of positive equity in my trade in. So in the end we're at about $24k plus taxes and DMV which is an unbelievable deal. So I told them to let me drive it (they offered to let me drive for as long as I wanted as long as I was back by closing...LOL) and then we'd make it happen. I had a few reservations as the car is missing a sunroof and I currently have one, and there are no backup sensors which I also have- but the deal is too good on such a beautiful car to pass up.

I enjoyed the car. Visibility was not a problem at all. Handling of course was great. I did notice a small turbo lag, but I expected that and it doesn't bother me. So, long story short I signed, and if all goes well (banks were closed by the time we were done), I should have it by tomorrow evening!

Nice choice with Blue Velvet! I think you will enjoy the Turbo 4 and hopefully premium gas won't go up too much in the next few months. I use Shell V Power premium gas in my 2SS and it performs real good. Congratulations on your new Camaro purchase and I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I do mine and will forget about your 5th Gen like I did!!

I, too, hope you're able to take advantage of such a great deal. Coming from a 5th Gen also, I know what a big difference it is stepping into one of these cars. They are fun to drive and I look forward to firing up mine every day!
