Car parts hoarder..am I the only one?? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I just realized yesterday that I may one day end up on that TV show hoarders. I do pretty much all my own work in the drive way laying under jackstands. Yesterday I did my drive shaft and added a hurst short throw shifter (which is the best thing ever and I'm mad I didnt add earlier).

When I was done, I did my typical "throw everything in the garage and I'll sort it out tomorrow" thing and threw the old parts in the same corner as all the other car parts I've taken off to replace or upgrade over the years with any car I've owned. For some reason I know I wont need the stock manifolds or CAI and shifter and other parts from this car but I just cant part with them. In the back of my head theres the "well what if you need to swap them back out one day" going on.

Just wondering if it was just me or not. I'm sure I could get some money from the few things I've taken off but idk when that will ever happen.

Lol....I'm the same way! Had my manifolds and stock air box for years just piled up in the garage!

I have a garage attic full of stuff off my SS. Called all the boneyards and body shops around. None were interested, even for free if they picked it up. Guess it'll go in the dumpster when I relocate.

I have my stock airbox, stock torque converter and a yet-to-be-installed set of used lowering springs in my garage. And as hard as I try though, I can't seem to let go of my Adam's Polishes boxes (they're really rugged). But I did let the shop that installed my headers & exhaust keep my stock setup. Shit's too ugly to keep at home.

Same here, I have a 3 car garage and 1 whole bay is filled with parts from the 67 and 12 Camaros...U want to buy some stuff? LOL

. I have a connex box in the back and a half of a garage filled with various engines, stock parts, race car parts and performance parts just waiting for time and beer to magically install them

Guess its time to build a new bigger shop.

NOT here. Gone and forgotten. I don't even have to worry about the "what if I want to go back to the .....". I will go buy one then. When I upgrade, think of the other part as "Junk and only Junk". Sell it, trash it or give it away, no need for you to have it.

I kept most all of the factory pieces from my car and now that I'm selling it, I'm glad I did. I have been able to recoup most of the money I spent on all the mods and they don't add much value if any when selling the car. It ends up being a win win if you have the patience to put it all back on and sell the aftermarket pieces.

Guilty here as well. I have upgraded Harleys, Crotch Rockets, Dirt Bikes, Trucks and now Camaros. Still have all the factory take off parts in the basement. The wife is pretty annoyed by all my quality OEM parts (Junk). Maybe tomorrow I'll start going through it and scrap some. And then again maybe not!

GUILTY! Except old brakes, rotors, etc..., I'll throw that crap out but if it can still be used, I still got it. My Camaro used part collection is just starting
