I was trying to make it easy because the trucks still had the old Vortec pushrod engines up to 99-2k iirc.

All Gen III and Gen IV V8s are generally considered LS motors even if they are designated with just a "L". Gen III engines were first introduced in 1997 in the Corvette and took a couple more years to be introduced across the board. Similar to how the new Gen V "LT" was introduced on the 2014 C7 and is now going into wider usage.

The trucks got the Gen III in 1999 model year it was a 5.3 and it was a LM7, but still considered a LS style engine

No it's not the LS engine because it's name does not start with the letters "LS".

LS1s, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 9 are the only LS engines.

Now does it share the same architecture as the LS? Sure. But it's technically not an LS engine. It is however a Gen IV engine the same as any LS.

This.

Reason why we emphasize on this is because you cannot buy an LS3 cam and put it in the L99 without doing all of the other work.

The L99 is a LS3 modified to allow for the use of VVT and AFM. The cam, half the lifters and pushrods, pistons, valves, oil pump, valley tray and some other minor bits are changed to make this happen. Can you revert the changes to the L99 and make an LS3? Absolutely.

The term "LS motor" has come to generically mean any engine based on the Gen III and IV small block Chevy architecture. There are a ton of specialized variants that don't start with LS"x" that are still in the family.

Same Ol'- Same Ol'

This banter sounds just like the old V8 vs V6 bullshit. A Camaro has the same love and appreciation and is as Dear to the Heart whether it sports a V6 or a V8................Its the killer looks and the attention grabbing stance it has that people envy. ( also maybe the throaty sound, but their all Camaros.......
