Intake and Throttle Body Issues

I have been reading about intakes and I am sold. So I am looking at doing the Vmax TB at the same time. What's holding me back is a few people seem to be having some idle issues without a tune.

Here is a prime example: Roto-fab intake and Vmax TB with idle issues

Is anyone running that here without a tune? Did the idle issues go away?

He may have pinched the oring seal when putting the TB on. I did that once installing a ported TB on a 06 GTO.

I am running that exact combo. I did do a fuse pull the night before the install and let the car warm up to relearn the idle for 15 min before driving. I have not had any issues at all.

Highly recommend this.
No need for a tune at all. Just a strong MAF sensor

I've sold several hundred Vmax throttle bodies and installed about 50 locally. I haven't seen that issue, and even though I have HP tuners , I haven't had to do any relearn procedures, or unplug the battery. Zero of them had issues.

I move the intake tube out of the way, unplug the throttle body connection, remove the four slightly tightened throttle body bolts, remove the stock throttle body and reverse the process with the Vmax throttle body in place and start the start the car, get paid, owner droves off happy with much better throttle response.

Its really a 20 minute install that's that easy.

Of the over 5000 units sold, The rarely heard of problem is mostly caused by a air leak between the new air intake installed and the front of the throttle body where unmeasured air is leaking in

I have the Cold Air Inductions, Inc. CAI with the VMAX ported throttle body and no tune.

There were no idle issues at all after the install.

I installed K&N kit with Vmax throttle body, no fuse pull, no battery disconnect and I have had Zero issues. Also did APex catch can all at the same time. Only difference has been a huge difference in throttle response and seat of the pants feel. And supercharger whine sounds awesome!

A tune is not needed with the VMAX throttle body and idle issues are not the norm. There is likely an install error with either the intake of like Bo mentioned the throttle body or it may just be a fluke. It is hard to say from a remote location and minimal info.

I just installed the Roto fab this past week with no problems. Looking forward to swapping the TB soon, hate that its 350 though instead of just 150.

$350 up front but you get $200 back when you return your stock one.

Sounds as if maybe something is loose and there is a vacuum leak, the Ecu will hunt for throttle position trying to compensate for the un metered air entering the engine
