Thanks for all the kind words. Haven't stopped smiling since bringing her home. Hopefully this helps anyone who is in a similar position to where I was four years ago. Keep working and never forget what you're working for.

Not necessarily true. Just like shopping for a GM part, PRICE is king with shopping for financing (lowest total charges for the same terms).

While it's true that you usually can get better deals on financing with a local bank vs. a dealer, the best plan is to find out what the best you can do for yourself at a bank/credit union, then ask the dealer if they can beat it. You just might be surprised. They can get ALL sorts of interest rate deals where you may not. I did that with the ZL1. Got my long-time credit union's best finance rate lined up, which rarely gets beat. Then I tossed it to the dealer and asked if they could do better. They did. Only by 0.1% for the same terms, but 0.1% is still more money. I'm betting my credit union would have matched it, but it would have added time (which is money).

But to the OP, we older folks that have been there and done that are proud of you for avoiding temptation to earn your way into the car of your dreams. Enjoy it!

Now that is what we call permagrin, it is a side effect from having/driving your car.

remember reading this thread when it was "fresh" believe me we older Camaro owners respect you a lot more than someone that got major help from mommy and daddy! hats off to you for doing it the right way! I bought both of my 5th gens used, that alone saved me 5-7 grand. I wish I could buy brand new but for what I earn going lightly used is the best bang for the buck, at least for me!

Hey everyone.

Im new here and well I've always loved the Camaro since the first day I saw it. Well. this past weekend I decided to bring my dream to reality and tried to purchase my dream car.

I went to the dealership and got denied. =(

Mostly, because I am 20 years old and have a young credit history. Which sucks.

I've been coming to this site for a while now and your posts keep me going. Maybe one day I will be able to own one, until then I will continue to read new post and save more money.

Keep up the good job you guys. It keeps guys like me going.
I remember when they first came out. I was 18 years old and had 13K to put down on a SS. However, no credit history and low monthly income ended up getting me an offer of 60 months at 17.5%. Needless to say, I turned that offer down and waited a few years to get a Camaro. I just saw the update, congrats!

Congrats on the sweet new ride bud! Patience is a virtue that is mostly lost on the younger folks these days. I'm glad to see you stuck to a plan and got your dream car

Congrats on the new ride ! I wanted a Camaro myself since 1991. Had plenty of nice used and new vehicles since then, but 24 years later, I finally got one as well ! Good things do come to those who wait ! Enjoy

Please don't take this advice. Do your budget research first, and if it looks like making the payment will be a struggle, then wait until you are in a better financial position.
