I think we are going to see allot of ss folks upset.... Camaro needs to lose some weight
I think we already voted that that driver of the SS was on a coffee break when they started the race.

What about a return to a 327 (5.4L) V8? Much less a 302...

Isn't the world ending in December 2012 anyways?

I like the sound of smaller and lighter, and that it could be here as early as 2015. But I won't buy one unless it has a V8; I need that V8 sound. I can handle a smaller displacement V8 as long as the power to weight ratio is at least equal.

Well the car did come out in 2009, even if they called it a 2010. And the concept did have an LS2 in it. If the trend continues, it will be better than they predicted, just like the 5th gen.

I would expect a smaller displacement V8 with direct injection at some point. If you take the HP/cubic inch in the LLT and add a couple of cylinders the numbers start getting interesting.

you know ... one of the reasons I sold my 2000 SS was that I did not feel safe or comfy in that car any longer. Furthermore one of the reasons I bought my New 2010 SS was that it IS LARGE, yet it is BIG with extra LBS... Thats what I wanted. Now I drive my 2.5 yrd old and 4.5 year old around to the park and feel safe. The F5 is a tank, no joke. We all know it. People don't like the how thick the A pillars are by the windows or the B pilliars but that says to me that in case I go inverted I have some density to help me. Sure the new 5.0 mustang is lighter maybe with the same power, but sure as shit I don't think I would feel good with my kids in the back. ZETA FTW in IMO. Just a two door G8. yup I like the size and weight.

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!! The power isnt the point, the heritage is! No V8 means no thanks for me! That would be the most depressing news for me...

yeah, but come on...I understand why they were calling it a '09/LS2, but we knew like 4 years ago the LS2 was ending it's run and the Camaro was NOT gonna have an LS2.

The Camaro needs to have a V8. There are plently of sports cars that are just as fast, and probably even more fun to drive. The unique rumble of a V8 is what makes the Camaro different. If I just wanted a fast car, and didn't care if it made a buzzy drone, I'd buy a 370Z.
Okay, what OHC V-8 is in the Dodge Truck? The Hemi is a pushrod.

Otherwise, I have no issues for smaller lighter, and powered adequately. Nothing wrong with that.

Can I sign up now. ???? Get an R6P code for early production order?

I'm not going to get worried. As others have said it is just silly to speculate 5 years out. One of the first articles I read about the current Camaro back in 04 or 05 listed a turbo or supercharged version of the 5 cylinder out of the Colorado as a likely engine. Didn't happen.

V8s are not old archaic technology. People lose 2-4 cylinders, strap on a blower or turbo and act like they have the newest evolution in the internal combustion engine. Turbos and blowers have been around for decades. Like everything else with automobiles they have become more effective, more reliable, and cheaper thus they are more prevalent in the mainstream market. The "old" LS platform gets far better mileage than the V6 out of my S-10 which is barely 7 years older. Someone please show me a factory turbo/blower car that makes 400+hp and sells for 32-35,000.

They don't need to do away with the V8. It just needs to continue to get better. If you think you are going to get a turbo six making the same power without a price increase, you are crazy. My 2 cents. There will always be V8 American sports cars just as there will always be V12 European exotics. And thank God for both.

Lightweight and lots of power sounds good to me. Doesn't have to be an 8.

Jeese, the car has been back for barely a year and we're already speculating on the next generation haha, hopefully it wont be a whole new generation but just a refresher like the 73-74 conversion or 97-98, a whole new generation just after like 4 years seems a little hasty. Also if the Camaro drops the V8 altogether im off the bandwagon lol, im sorry im a die hard Camaro fan but a Camaro isnt a Camaro without a V8, its just a Cobalt with Camaro skin. Same with the Mustang or Challenger, its just not the real car without that signature V8, i dont care how you argue it or how you force induce the piss out of it to make it seem awsome, im a V8 guy and no amount of forced induction on a V6 will ever win me over from that.

On a lighter note though i am excited for the new refresh, i never liked the Camaro being on a 4-door platform and once the new Alpha comes around maybe we'll see Camaros that are smaller than Mustangs, and wouldnt that be AMAZING if they were lighter hahaha, imagine rubbing it in all those Ford guy's faces that now THEIR car would be the fat pig, after all the hell they gave us over it.
