Question What headers are these?

So, I have a buddy of mine who is gonna sell me these headers. I don't know what brand they are, and neither does he because it was with his car whenever he bought it. Just asking, because Im gonna need to buy some HFC if I get them.

I am not sure, but they will need to be repaired to get the dimples out of the tubes. As this will affect the flow throw those tubes. If these were a correct fit for a Camaro, then they should have not had to been dimpled.

Only suggestion I have is to try the serial number off the bar code, that might pull up something.

I hope he's basically giving you these. Speed Engineering doesn't even have that bad of welds no do I think they use multiple pipes to create one tube. If I were you I'd stay away from these. If you're looking for some big time budget headers get some Speed Engineering headers with some Texas Speed cats or some Texas Speed headers and get it all at once place.

Those dimple look like they are there to clear the steering shaft .

Not so fast with that!

Watch this fantastic video by Engine Masters. They test how severely dimpled headers affect performance. You will be very surprised.

As for the 'correct fit' part? I agree. The proper fix for our cars is to loosen the motor mounts and shift the engine over a bit until you have clearance. This is usually unnecessary unless you are installing 2 inch headers, and even then most still don't rub against the steering shaft.

TC, I would avoid these unless you are getting an amazing deal. I didn't notice at first, but those collectors have been cut, repaired, and re-welded. It looks like they did a decent job, but you need to check them in person. Check to make sure it has a merge spike in each collector still and that it isn't damaged or bent. They may have been ball joint or bolted flange type previously. Obviously, we can't tell if they used stainless or mild steel for the repair.

Going to have to agree.

Even the cheaper Manzo and OBX headers have a branded badge plate welded on at least 1 primary.

No way to identify these. That bar code is NOT related to the header. That is for the new collector ends that were welded on.

As far as welds go between Speed Engineering headers and Kooks as I have owned both the difference is night and day. Yes I have pictures, does it effect performance not at all well all the non scientific research I have performed. I just didn't like the welds and Speed Engineering was gracious enough to return my money minus shipping cost (that's normal). I do not work for Kooks I just didn't like the welds on the Speed Engineering headers.

I disagree but this is in no way an attempt to be correct. Just a difference of opinion.

Can't hate on that man, at least you tried, right?

It's the people that bash products that they have zero experience with that drives me nuts.
