Since the bottom grill is SO big, what if the ZL1 differentiated itself visually by eliminating the top grill? The tri bar badge could be used instead of the bowtie and it would call back to the 3rd gen.

Can anyone tell if the writing on the side is the same on both sides? Also as others posted the numbers on the side don't really indicate anything because they all say "more" or "less then"

I can't put my finger on it, but this looks like something different that what we saw in the leftlane spy shots. Wheels are similar but tires are different (as is the gap). The hood just doesn't seem the same and I can't make my mind envision that front end under the black wrap on the other photos. It's probably just me going bonkers though.

My guess... We're looking at a Z/28 and not a ZL1. The motor underneath is a bigger badder motor not seen in the Vette or the Cadillac. it is also sporting the flow tie which was developed for the Z/28 to squeeze out that much more performance.
The ZL1 while an HP model is not meant to break records on the track, regardless if it will or will not. The Z/28 is the track monster and is 100% focused on that. This is also not the same car we have seen before in heavy camo. That had a more ZL1 style hood setup (from what we could see). My guess... Both the ZL1 and Z/28 are in the process of getting tested. GM is aiming to take on the GT350R and the Z/28 is now the lead HP car coming first or maybe even along side the ZL1. GM will position the ZL1 as the luxury Camaro with a Super Charger that will most likely be slightly cheaper than the Z/28 just like last time. It will continue to bill the Z/28 as a track car and will throw crazy racing specific bells and whistles on it. Keep in mind the Z06 is basically one of the fastest track cars in the world. The Z/28 will end up right behind it if not a bit further back. The ZL1 will follow these two. I honestly see it like this. SS Coupe Camaro SS Corvette Stingray Z51 Camaro ZL1 Camaro Z/28 Corvette Z06 I see GM moving forward with a potential new 427 or even the same 427 in the current Z/28 on the lighter 2016 platform to secure the lead once again over the GT350R. Just my 2 cents.

Could be different parts on the same model as they were testing things out, but it has been bugging me all morning...something tells me this one is different.

My guess is that Z/28 will absorb the ZL1 kind of like how the Z06 absorbed the ZR1.
So we will get a full interior supercharged z28 that tracks very well and no stripped out track special on coil overs. |

#HPSIX + Flow Tie leave little doubt we are looking at the 2017 Z/28. Since we know the weight will be about 3685, likely NA 570 HP...
Also anyone else pick up on the orange stripes? Are those tape or are they teasing us with orange paint revealed under the camo?

a) I have trouble believing that GM would allow a 6th gen Z/28 to be heavier than the SS (if they can at all help it). b) Based on the GT350, I'd guess GM is aiming for 530-550 hp (if the 6.46 on the car is a PWR target, GM might be looking at trying to trim 130-250 lbs from the SS). Also, there's a rumor that the next ZL1 should be under 3900 lbs (I'm personally hoping for less than 3850). Think about the CTS: curb weight for the V6 RWD is 3745, curb weight for the CTS-V is 4145. If you add 400 lbs to the V6 Camaro curb weight, you'd get 3835 lbs (that'd be for the ZL1 auto). |
