SS suspension: Brittle rear coil insulators? (bushings?)
Spotted today during quick underbody inspection. Current mileage 28,400. The aft driver's side seemed to be the most cracked & brittle. Aft pax side looks like something has shifted or maybe twisted? Is this anything to be concerned about? Or is this normal condition w/ weather & miles, but doesn't effect function?
*Please take time to reply if you can provide USEFUL feedback. I obviously know nothing about the suspension, but feel it's a valid concern since I must travel a pretty rough 1.5 mile gravel route every trip. Thanks in advance, ~ T. Aft left: |

Surprising for the age and mileage but nothing I would concern myself with. Worst case scenario is you develop a metal on metal squeak once they start breaking apart and the spring sits directly on the spring seat. I bet that won't be for a while though.

Snow, temperature changes, and salt will do that to those rubber parts. That corrosion is something I would expect on a 70k+ mile car, so it looks like it sat outside and was daily driven in the winter.
Be prepared for the other exterior rubber parts to be the same. Like menteioned above though, in this specific instance, if it were to go away the worst you would get is some squeeks from metal on metal contact. maybe a small drop in height.
