2016 is definitely the Camaro's to lose, but that doesn't mean Ford will allow it for the entire generation. It wasn't that long after the Camaro returned that Ford put the 5.0 in the GT. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a DI Coyote in 2017.

I'm a little surprised (and find it interesting) how many here are in your camp on the DI thing. Y'all could sure be correct on it, but it makes me scratch my head to think that's their plan since they nixed it in 2009/10. Honestly(considering the past), I don't think Ford is nearly as concerned as muscle heads around the world.

For the sake of conversation: Of course, the updates coming for the next Camaro may "force their hand" on this, but I wonder if they won't simply switch the GT engine up to the 5.2L or open the 5L to a 5.2L(avoiding the flat plane crank) to gain power.

None of the Modular series short of the 6.2L is likely to offer adequate N/A torque anyway, so it seems they could do one of those two things or offer a different engine option. Some think the 3.5L TT will find it's home there, but I don't think so at all myself. Cool, yes. Capable, yes. Enduring, that too. Best option... not even close. The next RAPTOR version would be wild though.

To me, if Ford doesn't make changes to address the weight, particularly unsprung weight, they'll truly need to either step up the handling to at least the 2014 GT500 level or do whatever they want to bring the GT's power up to at least 460 and there, they'd still lack against the torque curve of the OHV.
