Do you think we'll see a big discount / rebate on 2018 models when 2019's appear?
I've always been window shopping for a 6th Gen SS with a few things, mainly on the node of practicality keeping me from pulling the trigger. The main thing is it absolutely must be a 2SS with a sunroof as I am not after just the power alone but all of the features the fully loaded models come with, and unfortunately.. fully loaded models come with fully loaded price tags.
While I technically "could" get a $45k car, I can't justify it right now and plus I'm still involved in a massive project of pushing my 99 Z28 to 700 + WHP of which I just installed a transmission that can handle the abuse. Yet it is always on my mind, whether I should suspend my 99 Z28 project and go for an 2SS and perhaps even completely nullify my goals to build something that fast and buy an SS this year or if I should just keep waiting, finish my 99 Z28 and get an SS around 2020 or 2021, perhaps a used and in good shape 2019 model just as a garage car. Well, my local dealer is saying they're expecting the 2018 SS model's to be marked down by as much as $10,000, combined with a down payment that makes a 2SS very feasible if I pulled the trigger. The two downfalls are, I would have to suspend my 99 Z28 project or possibly can it altogether (trying to avoid selling it as I have alot invested in that car.) and also the possibility that I will wish I had waited on a 2019. My 2017 V6 isn't worth much as a trade and unfortunately a spoiler install gone wrong kind of hurts that, although I've rectified some of that, it still bugs me. My original idea was to just wait and pay off the 17 and hold onto it as a DD and buy a 19 as a garage car to go with my 99 Z28.. but do you think that the 18's will be discounted, and if so.. should I pull the trigger? |

I do not expect many discounts at the least in my area dealership have very low inventory on Camaros almost zero SS cars, most are V6 cars on the lot and you are taking about maybe 4-5 cars at the most.

Probably not 20% but the biggest discounts are always at the end of the model year.

If I were you I'd finish the z28 first since you have lots of money in it already.

No, I do not think you will see BIG rebates and discounts when the refresh appears. I think you will see a trickle of dealer orders for 2019's until the 18's are gone. It is hard to imagine what might create a surge of demand for the refreshed model that might encourage deep discounts on the outgoing model. Cars, in general, not selling well these days.
