Loud thud behind dash on passenger side when turning air on.

Does anyone know what this could be? It doesn't really make a noise unless I have the "recirculate" button on.

I have turned the recirculate button off and on a few times tonight since I first noticed it. It doesn't make more than an faint tick noise when I turn it off. When I select circulate again, after a second when it kicks in it sounds like a gnome in my dash kicked the rear of my glove box.

Is this an actuator that has gone bad that I only hear when the car attempts to swap from outside to inside air?

My car had it, my dealer said it was normal so I took it somewhere else and they had to pull the sheet metal apart. It was the vent door hitting the housing when opening or closing, so what they they did was trim the door just a little bit so it wouldn't hit.

There's a doc posted w/ the procedure.

It's done under the hood at windshield cowl. Simple, quick, effective repair.

My 2016 SS2 had the same problem and the dealer service tech went in through the windshield cowl to correct it. Just make sure you take a close look to ensure they put the cowl back on properly. I had to take mine back because the tech missed one of the clips.
