STOCK T-STAT VS 160 FOR ECS KIT

i kind of lean towards just keeping the stock t-stat on when i get my ECS kit installed.. anyone with experience here?

i just read that your car wont get up to it's efficient temperature that the engine was designed around with a 160 degree tstat, causing more engine ware over time.

Mine stays around 180-190 with the 160 thermostat

For Drag race applications we are now carrying LPE 174 stats, a better choice to get the temp up to the desired 185 quicker.

The Fan settings and Radiator are responsible for operating temp after the car is warmed up.

The T-stat is there to get it up to temp as quick as possible to prevent wear.

i was told that the oil needs to get up to 205 so the moisture gets cleared out of the system.

That is oil temps, not water temp. That being said, a proper sized t-stat will get the oil there much faster. With a low t-stat it can take 20+ minutes of driving just to get the car warm enough to beat on.
