Camaro vs. Mustang vs. Challenger.

Well I'm sure this has been beat to death but with the announcement of the new hellcat I just wanted to know everyone's opinion on where it would fall on the muscle car food chain! My own opinion would be that the GT500 would take it at the strip and the ZL1 would take it on a road course. Glad to see dodge putting more effort into the muscle car war though.

GT > SS for the street/strip ...I have had an ss so this aint some e-penis talk. Zl1 would dominate the GT 500 all over the track no doubt. Hellcat will be competing with the GT 500 but dodge is a lil late in the game because Ford and Chevy will bring the heat right back and most likely will up the game on the hellcat.

Drag GT500> Hellcat> ZL1. I think it's gonna be close with ford and dodge at the strip. We all know the only thing the ZL1 has going for it is the track and corners.

Hellcat 6.2SC is rumored to be 700hp with available 8 speed auto..

If thats true, its going to be tough to beat in a straight line

There are some track tests out there with the GT500 ahead of the ZL1, so the Ford can run on a track ok..

I think you guys are jumping the gun a little thinking the GT500 will take a Hellcat at the drag strip. Seeing how it will have a 8 speed auto option I think it will be as fast or faster than a GT500 at the strip. However I wouldn't be surprised if it were more expensive. We will just have to wait and see.

Lets assume the heavy boat didnt shed any weight, the hellcat will need north of 700 hp to beat a gt 500 at the drag realistically. The gt500 isnt geared for the 1/4 mile ideally, so that is where the hellcat might have an advantage.

Word is that the Hellcat did indeed gain 200 lbs and should come in at around 4450 lbs. So regardless of the 8 spd Auto, its facing a 600lb deficit. Also the GT500 is geared perfectly for the 1/4 mi, stock it shouldnt have to shift out of 3rd to cross the finish line.

After seeing what tires the supercharged SRT is going with and the weight increase I completely retract my statement. The car is going to be a smoke show king with stock tires. I'm sure a well driven GT500 will have no problem with it. I thought the car was getting a new and lighter chassis but I guess that turned out to be just a rumor.

I think it will be closer even with the increased weight i mean look at what the 5spd 392s run. This car will have a 8spd with the right tires it should be a bullet off the line.
