You tell me how living in CA is a good thing.
LOL Living in San Diego is beyond great actually. I run outdoors all year long in awesome weather while working from home and live 10 minutes from the coast. Real estate and rent is super expensive here but honestly not more than it was where I came from (DC metro/MD/VA area).

I make 110K/yr working from home. I never said it was a hit. I still have 8x that saved in cash alone. I don't worry ever about bills or expenses much b/c I live well within my means. But $30K leaving my bank account is still a lot of $$....for essentially a toy that I'd drive <5k per year.

The more money you have, the more you appreciate it and want to keep IMO.

I live in a rural area where the cost of living is far less than in a city. I'm a FF/paramedic (state/county employee) and make between $60-70k depending on OT and part-time work. My wife is also a state employee and makes around $50k. I bought a 1SS for $35k as a toy, my daily driven truck is paid off, we do have a payment on my wife's SUV. We also own a few rental properties. Obviously we both have careers with state pensions, on top of additional investment plans. I also make sure we save around 20% of our take home pay.

I sold my modified 2011 SS convertible 2 years ago to get into a 2003 Viper with 7K on it (bought Viper for $39K). Now debating with myself if I should sell it when the ZL1 convertibles come put in early 2017. I can afford to pay the difference but it would mean delaying retirement (in about 3-4 years) about 8 months. I would use the ZL1 as a daily driver unlike the Viper that sits in the garage most of the time!

I'm not gonna lie, the weather was amazing when I went over the summer. Just living in large cities.

Just purchased a 1ss 36300 OTD. Feel guilty about the purchase however I am a huge sport car fan. I am a new physician. Income of just over 300,000 however my wife doesn't work. I do have 110,000 in student loans. Will need to buy a very cheap winter car.

I only make about 25k-30k a year so a SS is way out of my reach. I do have great credit around 750 so thats how i was able to get the 2.0t with no down payment but it is still a very much a splurge for me. With that being said.. I am still happy with it

I have been out of residency a couple years, but still have crazy student loan debt. I'm not even back to my principal. If it werent for IBR and PSLF, I definitely wouldn't have purchased my 2SS even on a similar salary. 5 more years of that and they will be paid off! Still feel a bit guilty though...

Congrats on the car and finishing residency. I also have been doing ibr and still have 5 years left of payments with a monthly payment amount of around 1250 per month. As a word of caution make sure the student loan officer correctly counts all of your ibr payments as I had issues with "missing payments." Several payments were not counted towards my loan forgiveness

San Diego doesn't feel large at all unless you compare with small towns. Every place you want to be is 10-20 min from where I live or less It actually feels just right. A large city? That would be LA.

My 2SS was less than 1/5th of the family income.

I am pushing the boundaries, depends on if you ask my wife or not.

Bought a 15 WRX CVT (xmas gift the wife), just had twins in March and instead of asking me to get a family car, she let me get a Camaro 2SS because I have never owned a V8.

I won the wife lottery.
